Good morning hivers, here in Chile is already squeezing the cold winter and my body knows it, it costs me to get out of bed early and be regular time in the sewing, however, this year is different because I have dedicated myself to maintain a pace, perhaps softer but no longer null as previous winters.
Part of that rhythm I have been adjusting thanks to a course for self-management as an artist, it has helped me a lot, because I have learned about economy, self-assessment, and more details that if you like, I will share with you in other publications. Another thing that has also helped me a lot are the external orders, the one I bring you is a very special one.
Next week my nephew will have a dance with a Hawaiian motif. His mom asked me to make him part of the costume: a white pants and I as an aunt in love of course I accepted. She immediately gave me a pair of pants to make the mold, she knows I love carnival and everything related to costumes, she asked me if I had the Hawaiian necklaces and of course I did.
So, I went for the white fabric, it's bistrech type, and without further ado, let's get to work, first the materials: fabric, thread, scissors, pattern, sewing machine, although it can be done by hand, chalk to mark, love and affection. His mom asked me to make the Hawaiian pants longer than the guide pants, because that way she would use them for other occasions and they would last longer, so with the pattern on the fabric folded in half, I made the pertinent adjustments, marking with soap and pins.
I made this Hawaiian pants without external side seams and cargo type, that is, with pockets on the sides. Then, I cut 5 pieces, 2 pockets and the two bases of the Hawaiian pants, adding about 4 cms to the legs and 4 more at the waist to make the channel where the drawstring goes, which I also cut about 100 cms long and 4 cm wide.
Well, first step, was to make the selvage to the pockets and folding inward the hems as you see in the pictures, then I sewed them on the sides of the pants, then I joined the main parts of the Hawaiian pants from the waistband to the waistband and sewed, then I opened the legs and from the waistband, passing through the legs and joining with pins, I passed a straight seam and then an overlock.
Now it's the turn of the waistband, I folded it and pinned it, I did the same with the leg hems, passing the corresponding seam, then it was the turn of the drawstring, I folded it in parts and sewed, with the help of a pin I crossed it through the channel, finally I ironed it and the Hawaiian pants were ready. The photos were taken for personal record and edited in canva. Thanks hivers for the support, any suggestion or comment is welcome.
