Last week, I stoped at a craft store in the downtown with my daughter and found a wooden bead kit to make Christmas decorations, which was reasonably priced at 5 euros. Of course we bought one :)

Bead work is one of the crafts that I enjoyed with my grandmother and mother when I was a child. I remember the good old days and noticed that time pasts so fast and my daughter grew up ... still she is following my orders like "please find 5 small blue bead" "give me blue, gold and blue" and I do the needle part thought.
With this kit, you can make the star in the photo on top of this post, snowflake, and Christmas tree. We finished making them one by one every night after dinner. The star was stable, but the Christmas tree needed some adjustment (the rows would twist), and it was fun to be creative to stabilize it.
It's nice to relive my memories from a different perspective. I may not buy many things for my daughter, but I wish we can make many small memories together like my I could do with my grandma and mother. Memories exist inside us for long.
If my grandmother were still alive, I would definitely have written her a letter and sent her one Christmas ornament. She passed away last year around this time. She worked as a seamstress and showed me how to knit, bead and various handicrafts.
I'm going to send one to my mother in Japan soon with a picture of my daughter.

先週子どもと手芸店をのぞいたらクリスマスの飾りを作る木製ビーズのキットがあり、5ユーロと値段もお手頃だったので買って帰りました。

ビーズを使った手芸は、祖母や母と小さい頃に楽しんだ思い出の手芸の一つで、もう子どももこんなことが一緒に楽しめるようになったんだなあと時間が経つののはやさと子どもの成長を感じます・・・といっても「どの色のビーズを何個」「どの順番でちょうだい」と頼んで針でつないでいくのはまだ私の仕事です😅
このキットを使うとトップの画像の星と、そのほか雪の結晶、クリスマスツリーを作れて、毎晩夕飯のあとに一つずつ作って一通り作り終えました。星は安定しているのですが、クリスマスツリーは補強が必要で（段がねじれてしまう）頭を使って平面に安定させるのも楽しかったです。
こう思い出を違う立場で追体験するっていいですね。子どもには、たくさん物を買うことは多分しないだろうけれど、頭にしまっておける小さな思い出をたくさん一緒につくれたらなと思いました。
祖母がまだ生きていたら、間違いなく手紙を書いて一つクリスマスの飾りを送っていただろうな。去年のこの時期に亡くなってしまったのです。洋裁を仕事にしていて、編み物、ビーズ、いろいろな手芸につきあってくれました。
近々日本の母に子どもの写真を入れて一つ送ろうと思います。
