Hello beautiful people.
It's been a minute here and honestly I miss sharing my project with y'all. I think I skipped last week due to some circumstances beyond my control.
Even at that, my heart was here and I couldn't wait to do today. However, I was so occupied that I almost skipped sharing. So I think it's better late than never.
I have loads of needlework outfit to share with y'all, but we'll take it one day at a time.
Here's Lola's project defense dress.
It's really not easy working with less quality fabrics. Especially the once that shrink a lot while cutting and sewing.
But some techniques can help mitigate these problems or reduce them to the minimum.
Lola had her project defense last week. You know for project defense, one mustn't look tacky at all.
Good outfits are known to boost confidence and so I guess that was why Lola reached out to me to make her a simple defense outfit.
The challenge was her bringing a very soft crepe which shrinked a lot while I struggled to stabilize it.
The secret? Interfacing! Cotton interfacing are the best solutions to a very light fabric.
Since I found a solution, I proceeded to draft out the style, after which I cut.
It's a pegged dress with fancy sleeves and a stylish Peter Pan collar.
The collar was drafted separately after making a standard cut of the neckline with three inches width and depth.
I took it to the machine and secured with a stitch, giving it a neat finishing.
I joined the bodice together (upper and lower) and joined the collar.
The ends thing was the sleeve. I cut a basic sleeve and turned it with a lighter shade of the color to make a beautiful stylish and simple sleeve.
After which, I attached it to the bodice which I had sewn. It took the dress from zero to 100.Giving a sleek look and fit.
Here's the finished outcome of the dress and Lola made a beautiful finalists after all.
The back view, so simple and pretty as well as the front view.
It took me about 6hours to draft cut and sew because I had to interface each piece together. I'm glad the outcome was worth in the end. And what's more? Lola was happier.
