Hello beautiful people.
It's been a hectic day but regardless of how busy today has been, I would share something with y'all.
We made an assymetric neckline in class and I was opportune to be the class leader for the topic.
We made a dress out of calico. A fabric usually considered as scrap in fashion schools to practice, figure out errors and all.
It all began from pattern drafting. Where we drafted the basic bodice with little alterations.
After several explanation from our tutor, the baton was passed onto me as the class rep to cut, interface and make an attempt by sewing it.
One of my classmate was my model, so I worked with her body measurement.
The style required patience and manipulation to achieve.
I have already cut out the pattern into pieces. It also required a bustier since it is an assymetric neckline with a skin tone net.
After cutting, I coupled back with a bustier ( breast pad) and that's why it's looking good like this.
I joined the front side and the back side and also the lower bodice which is a very short dress just for the purpose of this demonstration.
I wasn't able to get much picture since I was the one leading the class. I handed my phone to one of my classmates and she could only take a few nice shot.
Well, the dress ended up looking nice and my tutor was proud of how well I performed. The reason they ask students to try out new designs is to boost their confidence.
This has boosted my confidence a lot and now we were given assignments individually.
Here's the outcome of the dress first.
I can't wait to try out this new neckline on a very good Fabric. I'm thinking of using an African print for this project and making it couture outfit from this design.
I have learned to be creative with my mind and not always recreating styles. It task the brain and pushes one beyond the line.
When I get another model to rock my newest designs I will share with you all.
I feel so blessed to be a designer, playing with fabrics, designs and all. I'm so exhausted from today's class but sharing what I learned here made me feel good.
Images used belong to me.
