It's a pleasure to greet you🪡🧵. I hope you are all doing very well, dear and appreciated friends. I warmly welcome you to a new blog where I will be sharing with you the creative process of what we will do here step by step. Feel comfortable and thank you for being here reading this blog.✨💗
In today's blog I want to teach you how to make a basic short jacket made of fabric that doesn't stretch. This jacket is a great garment when we want to wear strapless dresses and make our outfit more elegant. You could also wear them with blouses and pants for a meeting and also for any special occasion. If you like this type of clothing, you've come to the right place because here I'll be showing you the necessary and basic steps to make it. So let's go with the materials to use, which by the way aren't many.
Materiales:// Materials:
- 1 metro de tela Dracon
- Tijeras
- Hilo
- Máquina de coser(haré uso de mi overlock ,si tienes una en casa te servirá de mucha ayuda usarla para los remates o puedes usar costura zig zag)
- Medida de una prenda o patrones
- 1 meter of Dracon fabric
- Scissors
- Thread
- Sewing machine (I will use my overlock, if you have one at home it will be very helpful to use it for the finishes or you can use zig zag stitching)
- Measurement of a garment or patterns
Pasos a seguir://Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
Okay friends, to make the job easier and more comfortable, we will use beforehand a garment that fits us well in order to cut the corresponding pieces of the garment. In this case I will use a short jacket without buttonholes or buttons because this model will be like the blazers that are long and do not have buttons, I do not know if you have noticed but most blazers only have one strap so you can tie them at the waist and that's it, so that's how we will make our jacket. Then I spread the fabric on my table and proceed to cut all the double pieces that I will use for this jacket, front and back pieces and the sleeves, which by the way I will make three-quarter sleeves.
Paso 02
Step 02
The next thing we will do is to use our garment as a guide as a measurement to be able to join the pieces. The front pieces have cuts in the bust, so we will join each piece and of course secure each piece with a straight seam and also rest it on top with a straight seam. This way we reinforce the seam and the finish looks very nice. We will also sew the collar and stitch it over the top.
Paso 03
Step 03
Then we sew the shoulder part, open the piece and sew the sleeves to both parts of the armhole. We join the sleeve with a pin so that it does not roll and we sew along the edge. Then we sew a straight stitch, join the piece and sew from the sleeve down to join the sides of the jacket and we sew the hem of the sleeves to the cuffs and then make the hem.
Paso 04
Step 04
The last step we will do is to sew the facings around the outline, then we also sew the collar around the edge, we sew the facings on the inside and we overlay it over the jacket. As a last step, I proceed to sew a long strip under the jacket to reinforce it and so that the seam cannot be seen. We sew it on the inside as well and thus we finish the jacket.
Resultado:// Result:
Taking time to sew these garments and seeing the results is something that gives us great satisfaction. If you have reached the end, I am very happy that you took your time to read my blog. I know that soon or perhaps later you will be able to use this tutorial to make your basic jackets. That is why I would be happy to know that this is the case. Learning to sew our own clothes is something wonderful. I love it very much. Tell me, do you also really like the art of sewing? Thank you for reading me, friends. I say goodbye to you with photos of the result of my jacket.
