Today I just finished this elegant chiffon blouse. Most of my clients are older and they love it when I make these kinds of loose, flowing clothes. Honestly, I've found it easy to work with these garments lately, especially because the details are large and I don't complicate things so much when making details for smaller clothes. So, I do love working with larger garments. It was a little difficult cutting it because chiffon fabric doesn't help at all when cutting, but that wasn't an obstacle.
Before we get to the tutorial, I want to tell you that this blouse isn't just for plus-size and older women; we can wear it too! I really liked the print on this fabric; it's very pretty and goes with any nude color. If you'd like to learn how to make it, I'll leave the process here. Come join me!

Pasos a seguir: | Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
Before cutting the fabric, I kept in mind the design my client wanted, in this case, a peasant blouse. I then cut the fabric, stretching it with the folds included, for the front and back blouse pieces. I cut three bias pieces, 70 cm long x 4 cm wide, to form the base of my blouse. The collar consists of two pieces with a cut in the front and one with a fold for the back. I cut two sleeves and the wide bias tape for each one. This bias tape is also 70 cm wide x 8 cm wide. I cut two rectangles, 3 cm wide x 10 cm long, for the front opening at the neckline of the blouse. These are the corresponding pieces.
Paso 02
Step 02
The first thing I did was join each end of the peasant-cut sleeves to each half of the blouse's armhole on the inside. We sewed it with an overlock stitch and a straight stitch to prevent the overlock or zigzag thread from opening. Once we sewed the sleeves, this top part would be super wide, so once I had it like this, I took the opportunity to seal the sides of the blouse from the tip of the sleeve to the bottom, also with overlock and straight stitches.
Paso 03
Step 03
We'll join the neck pieces at the shoulders and sew the bias tape to the front of the neckline. We won't make it too thick; the idea is for it to look nice and delicate. Then, on the top edge of the blouse, the piece that's left is very wide, I've overlocked the edge and gathered it to the same size as the base of the neckline. Next, using pins, I'll place the blouse around the neckline, overlapping it, and we'll sew this piece with a straight stitch along the gathered edge. We'll use that seam as a guide to sew the blouse to the neckline.
Paso 04
Step 04
I proceeded to sew the bias tape around the neckline from the bottom to the top, stitching over it with a straight seam and making the blouse strap stick out. I tied a knot at the end of each cord I made. We sew the sleeve pieces in the same way; I sewed them separately up to where each end of the sleeve reaches, and the unsewn ends will be sewn from the inside out, stitching over them as well. Finally, I sewed the hem of the blouse and ironed it for a better finish. I hope you like the results.
