Good evening, needle lovers! I hope you're having a lovely night. Today I'm back to share one of the many projects I enjoy making: these beautiful pleated skirts for girls, and for adults too. This time, I'll be making a cheerleader-style skirt for a size 10 girl. We'll be making this skirt in satin fabric in this gorgeous royal blue color that I absolutely love.

To cut the pieces we will have the following measurements on hand: (Waist circumference, skirt length, waistband width) I cut a long rectangle 1.30 cm wide x 34 cm long, the waistband is 64 cm long x 10 cm wide, then we are going to sew the edge of the skirt with overlock stitching, I have done it, all the edges of the skirt.

Next, we'll arrange the panels. In this case, I made 12 panels, each 3 cm wide. Then, we'll sew or join the skirt on one side, leaving 1 cm of seam allowance inside and 10 cm high at the top. My client wanted this skirt without a zipper but with an opening, so I'll leave it 10 cm high.

We will proceed to sew over the hem of what is our skirt opening, then we will sew on the part of the question but what will be the back part I mark with sewing chalk the middle of the back and I am going to place 12 cm of elastic inside the waistband and we will sew it from end to end and bottom to prevent the elastic from coming out.

Finally, we will sew the waistband and the ends inside the button area, leaving 3 cm of fabric outside where our buttonhole would be located, and we will make the buttonhole. With this, we finish the waistband and the skirt.

These are the final results of our beautiful and simple skirt. I almost forgot to iron it, since ironing it gives it a much better look than when it wasn't ironed.
