Buenas noches amigos un placer saludarles , empecé el año la verdad con mucho trabajo costuril gracias a Dios es por eso que parte de esos trabajos que he hecho me ha quedado una cantidad favorable de retazos que a veces se me ocurre hacer muchas ideas pero solo termino haciendo como dos de cinco así que para no perder la costumbre de que hacer con ellos y sacarle el máximo provecho he decidido hacer este pequeño segmento o mini blog de 10 cosas que puedes hacer con retazos.
Good evening friends, it's a pleasure to greet you. I started the year with a lot of sewing work, thank God. Because of this, I've ended up with a good amount of scraps from the projects I've done. Sometimes I have many ideas, but I only end up doing about two out of five. So, to keep me in the habit of knowing what to do with them and to make the most of them, I've decided to do this little segment or mini-blog of 10 things you can do with scraps.

In this case, I started by cutting the circular shape of what will be my simple beret, using another circular beret as a reference. In this case, the one I had didn't have a waistband around it; it was plain because it came that way from the factory. I simply placed it on top of my scrap of fabric and cut a circle 8 cm wider than the normal measurement so that it wouldn't be too narrow. Then I cut the waistband 30 cm wide. The circumference or diameter of my head is 36 cm, but since the fabric I'm using stretches a lot, I cut fewer centimeters. The width of the waistband is 10 cm, which is what the scrap of fabric allowed me to cut 😄.

The next step we will take is to locate the end of the waistband and sew it along the edges, sealing it. We will make a straight seam on both sides since we will place it on our head folded in half.

As I mentioned, we will be folding the waistband in half and placing it on both sides of half the circumference of the beret circle. We will hold it in place with pins so that we can sew it with the edge.

I proceed to sew the edge; in this case, I used an overlock machine to sew the edge of the waistband, and while sewing, we stretch our circle enough until we finish sewing it. Then, as a final step, I placed the elastic all around the perimeter of the beret, also stretching it so that it holds the beret much more securely to the head.

These are the results of our finished beret, super simple and easy to wear. I love it for its versatility; you can wear it for sunny days, an afternoon stroll, a formal or informal gathering, or even for any costume.
