Actually, handling a customer as a shoemaker could be difficult. But at the same time once a customer agrees to patronize you, it’s always difficult for the customer to lose interest in your shoemaking. I have realized that customers' value as a shoemaker is very important. What I mean here is that I value all my shoemaking customers no matter their level of patronage. But all matters to me are maintaining a good relationship with them.
I was actually in my shoemaking office when a customer was passing by, he entered my homemaking office and was like the footwear I displayed in form of a shelve is actually colorful. The customer told me that the footwear got him attracted to my shoemaking office. After a while with the customer, I understood with him that he was actually in the market to get other things rather than footwear. But due to the footwear I displayed for sampling, he got attracted and decided that I should make related footwear for him.
The customer made me understand that the way I arranged the footwears are actually attractive and I should keep doing the good work. After the customer selected one out of the foot wears I displayed it so that I could make it for him. I told him that the one he selected may not really serve him well but it’ll be better for me to make a quality-related one that could serve him for years.
While I decided to make different footwear from the customer’s choice, it's because the customer has never been in my shoemaking office before and another is that the customer never planned to buy footwear at the moment but he got attracted by the foot wears I displayed for sampling. It was actually my duty to give out my best quality footwear for the customer in order for me to maintain the relationship.
After I finished making the footwear for the customer, the customer came back to have the footwear from my shoemaking office. When the customer collected the footwear, he was actually happy with the way I handled him. Before he left, I gave him a discount on the main price of the footwear.
Materials and tools used in making the footwear will be provided below:
Black leather.
A black footwear sole.
A black thread.
Two pearl shoe designs.
Shoemaking needle.
Sewing machine.
Sandpaper machine.
Gum.
Hammer.
Scissors.
Ruler.
Pen.
Steps followed in making the footwear for the customer will be considered below:
Measurement of the top footwear design using a ruler and then pen for the sketch.
After sketching out the top design of the footwear, I have to use scissors to cut the leather drawings into pieces.
After that, I have to arrange the top leather design accordingly based on the top leather design.
I now have to use a sewing machine to sew the top leather design of the footwear. For now, the top leather design for the footwear is ready to be added to the footwear sole.
Now I have to sandpaper the footwear sole and the top leather design sewn.
Now, I have to add gums to the top leather design and the footwear sole. After that, I have to place them under the sun for about 2hrs for drying.
After drying the footwear sole and top leather, I now have to fix the top leather design into the footwear sole. After that, I have to use a hammer to hit and make the footwear stronger.
Finally, I have to use a pinpointer to open a space from the right side of the top leather of the footwear and then fix the pearl footwear design.
