Fast, fast and faster were the only words that kept repeating in my head while I was putting the final touches on my new creation. It's a custom bag, they didn't give me any specifications and I think that played against me, because I wasn't clear about what I wanted to do and I had to undo and start over several times and I almost didn't finish it to share it on our needlepoint Monday and that stressed me out even more.

Rápido, rápido y más rápido eran las únicas palabras que se repetían en mi cabeza mientras daba los últimos toques en mi nueva creación. Es un bolso a pedido, no me dieron mayores especificaciones y creo que eso me jugó en contra, pues no tenía claro lo que quería hacer y tuve deshacer y empezar de nuevo varias veces y casi no alcanzo a terminarlo para compartirlo en nuestro lunes de aguja y eso me estresaba aún más.

I started with an oval base which I thought was what suited me best, but thinking about introducing something new and my last bag was with an oval base I decided to change it to a rectangular base. Honestly, that wasn't the main reason, but it did help me decide to change after I was almost a third of the way through the job.

Empecé con una base ovalada que pensé era lo que más me convenía. pero pensando en presentar algo nuevo y mi último bolso fue con base ovalada decidí cambiarlo a una base rectangular. Honestamente, esa no fue la razón principal, pero si me ayudó a decidirme a cambiar después de haber avanzado casi en un tercio del trabajo.

The thing is, I wanted to make it a braid or heart motif in rows and I thought about making four of it. But for some reason the fabric started to warp and the rows of hearts took on a curved shape, a look not at all to my liking. I was probably doing augmentations that I never quite figured out. So without further thought, I took it apart.

El caso es que quería hacerle un motivo de trenzas o corazones en hileras y pensé en hacer cuatro de ella. Pero por alguna razón el tejido comenzó a deformarse y las hileras de corazones tomaron forma curva, un aspecto para nada de mi gusto. Probablemente estaba haciendo aumentos que nunca llegué a descifrar. Así que sin pensarlo más, lo desarmé.

After starting on a rectangular base and advancing in one piece for four rows of low stitches I started two braids on the front base separated one from the other by 9 medium high stitches. This time I was more careful not to add increases, especially in the closing of the loops, which is where I get the most disoriented, besides the black yarn makes it a little more complicated.

Luego de recomenzar en una base rectangular y avanzar en una sola pieza durante cuatro vueltas de puntos bajos empecé dos trenzas en la base frontal separadas una de la otra por 9 puntos medios altos. Esta vez más atenta para no añadir aumentos sobre todo en el cierre de vueltas que es donde más me desoriento, además de que el hilo negro me lo complica un poco más.

I completed the bag in an almost rectangle consisting of 26 rows without counting the low stitches at the base. I made two pendants, one in the shape of a heart and the other is a tassel. The strap is a tubular cord that looks very nice and I used the same technique for the cord at the edge of the purse.

La correa es un cordón en forma tubular que queda muy bonito y utilicé la misma técnica para el cordón ubicado al borde de la cartera.

Another detail is the little bells that I made to hide the knots of the bone-colored cord. I almost didn't finish it until last night, I didn't even have half of the bag. Although at some point I felt frustrated and wanted to give up, having it finished by today and being able to share it with you today was the engine that gave me the boost I needed. The back of my right hand hurts a little, but seeing the goal achieved dissipates any discomfort and is always cause for celebration. Happy Needle Monday to all.

Otro detalle son las campanillas que realicé para disimular los nudos del cordón de color hueso. Por poco no alcanzo a terminarlo hasta anoche no tenía ni la mitad del bolso. A pesar de que en algún momento sentí frustración y ganas de desistir, tenerlo terminado para hoy y poder compartirlo hoy con ustedes fue el motor que me dio el impulso que necesitaba. Me duele un poco el dorso de la mano derecha, pero ver el objetivo alcanzado disipa cualquier molestia y es siempre motivo de celebración. Feliz lunes de agujas para todos.
