[ENG/ESP] Embellishing my old Christmas ornaments with the macramé technique. /Engalanando mis viejas esferas navideñas con la técnica macramé.

Happy and blessed needle Monday. Friends, health problems keep coming, today I find myself with a lot of flu discomfort, nasal congestion and sore throat, I think I have low defenses in my body, because it rained a lot on Saturday and when I went to my rehearsal, I got my feet wet, that was enough to make me sick. Despite this, I decided to give a little more life to some Christmas ornaments that were already a little worn and had lost some shine because they were the object of Rafaella's pranks last year.

Pese a ello, me animé a darle un poco más de vida a unas esferas navideñas que ya estaban un poco desgastadas y habían perdido algo de brillo pues fueron objeto de las travesuras de Rafaella el año pasado.

I collected several of those spheres. I no longer wanted them in the Christmas decoration because the truth is that the wear of the shine, especially in the white ones with frost was noticeable and they detract from the decoration.

Recopilé varias de esas esferas. Ya no las quería en la decoración navideña porque la verdad es que el desgaste del brillo, sobre todo en las blancas con escarcha era notable y desmejoran la decoración.

At first it occurred to me to put more frost glitter on them. But my memory brought to the work table that at some point I had seen some spheres decorated with the macramé knot technique and I have a nice natural color thread, it looks like raw wick and it goes great with the gold and white color of my old spheres.

En principio se me ocurrió colocarles más brillo de escarcha. Pero mi memoria trajo a la mesa de trabajo que en algún momento había visto unas esferas decoradas con la técnica de nudos macramé y tengo un bonito hilo color natural, parece pabilo crudo y va magnífico con el color dorado y blanco de mis viejas esferas.

I have not mastered the macramé technique, but it is one I would like to learn and it is among my plans for this year. Since the spheres are small, I only grouped eight strands of thread to make the sort of netting in which I would later wrap the sphere.

No domino la técnica del macramé, pero es una de las que me gustaría aprender y está entre mis planes para este año. En vista de que las esferas son pequeñas, solo agrupé ocho hebras de hilo para realizar la especie de red en la que posteriormente envolver la esfera.

I realized, after making the first one, that it is necessary to leave the first two strands and the last two in each row untied, these are knotted in the clasp. You will see in the first sphere, I only left the first two and the last two of the first row and I had difficulty in the closing.

We help ourselves with two paperweights or hooks to fix a thread at both ends, this will be the central thread.p On this thread we hang the eight strands with a lark's knot that is made by taking each strand in half and forming a ring with it, we pass both ends of that strand through the ring and pull completely to adjust on the central thread.

We simply knot two by two in each row until the net is formed. In the first row we tie strand number 2 with strand number 3, followed by strand 4 with strand 5, strand 6 with strand 7, leaving strands 1 and 8 loose. In the second row, repeat, leaving the first and last strand loose. For my spheres, which are small, I only need 3 and 4 rows.

Simplemente vamos anudando de dos en dos en cada fila hasta formar la red. En la primera hilera van amarradas la hebra número 2 con la número 3, seguido la 4 con la 5, la 6 con la 7 y queda la 1 y la 8 sueltas. En la segunda fila, se repite dejando sueltas la primera y la última. Para mis esferas que son pequeñas, solo necesite 3 y 4 vueltas.

Once the net is complete, remove it from the hook and tie the central thread around the small bulge that the spheres have in the part where the pendant is placed. We adjust well and tie the strands that we have left unknotted at the beginning until we close the net over the sphere. We knot the base and match the leftovers.

Al tener completa la red, la sacamos del gancho y amarramos el hilo central alrededor de la pequeña protuberancia que tienen las esferas en la parte donde se coloca en colgante. Ajustamos bien y amarramos las hebras que hemos dejado sin anudar al principio hasta cerrar la red sobre la esfera. Anudamos la base y emparejamos los sobrantes.

In the second sphere I made, I left the first and last strand loose in each row and everything turned out nicer and neater and if this premise is maintained, the work is done intuitively. It has been a very pleasant process and I feel comfortable with the result. I think that next year I will make many more of these spheres. Once we see how beautiful they look, we no longer want the simple balls we buy in the haberdashery. This design will make even the most unattractive spheres look great. Until next time friends. En la segunda esfera que realicé si dejé sueltas la primera y la última hebra en cada fila y todo resultó más bonito y prolijo y si se mantiene está premisa, el trabajo se da de forma intuitiva. Ha sido un proceso muy agradable y me siento a gusto con el resultado. Creo que para el año que viene haré muchas más de estás esferas. Una vez que lo bonitas que quedan, ya no queremos las bolas simples que compramos en las mercerías. Este diseño engalana hasta las esferas menos vistosas. Hasta la próxima amigos.
