Happy blessed needle Monday. I made these grannys a while ago because I felt like practicing them. I hadn't made a grannys before and they are so versatile and out of commitment to myself I told myself I had to at least manage a pattern. I got these which are very easy to make and you can see the procedure in this publication.

I gathered a dozen grannys and thought about making the top of a dress for Rafaella. But I put that idea aside as it seemed like I was being a bit ambitious because I have no idea how I could make the skirt. Still, the idea of the dress doesn't leave my thoughts, so I will probably venture into that project.

So I was inclined to do something simpler, as the other reason was that the grannys are small and I couldn't afford to do something a little more laborious. I went the safe route and chose to make a tote bag. The granny would be on the front and back and the bottom of the bag would have to be worked separately.

Once I was able to join the grannys in two rectangles of six grannys each, I worked the third piece. It is important to join the pieces together by taking only the inner thread of each chain so that it is neat. Otherwise the joints don't look so nice and it certainly ruins the quality of the work. This happened to me on the first two grannys I sewed and although I had to backtrack it was worth it, because for a better finish I am always willing to start over. Still, there is much room for improvement.

Una vez que pude unir los grannys en dos rectángulos de seis grannys cada uno, trabajé la tercera pieza. Es importante ir uniendo las piezas tomando solo el hilo interno de cada cadena para que quede prolijo. De los contrario las uniones no se ven tan bonitas y desde luego esto arruina la calidad del trabajo. Esto me pasó en los dos primeros grannys que cosí y aunque tuve que retroceder valió la pena, pues por un mejor acabado siempre estoy dispuesta a comenzar de nuevo. Aún así, hay mucho que mejorar.

I measured the height by two plus the base, math folks, and then knit the number of chains that distance. Next I knit six rounds of low medium stitches along the chain.

Medí la altura por dos más la base, matemáticas amigos, y luego teji la cantidad de cadenas de esa distancia. Seguido realicé seis vueltas de puntos medios bajos a lo largo de la cadena.

Sewing this base for the bag is simple but you have to pay attention to the stitches because we do not want it to be wrinkled or that at the end we miss to reach the other edge of the bag. That's why it's better to fix the base with markers and that way we can be sure that it's going to fit.

Coser está base para el bolso es sencillo pero hay que poner atención en las puntadas pues no queremos que nos quede arrugado o que al final nos falte para llegar al otro borde del bolso. Para eso es mejor fijar la base con marcadores y así ya tenemos la tranquilidad de que si va a cuadrar.

Finally I knitted a loop of single crochet over a chain to use it as a pendant and I fixed it directly on the fabric with heart-shaped hooks. I got a brooch on which I attached some small crocheted flowers and glued them on the inside. This, besides being decorative, was the solution to the problem I had when attaching the brooches because the fabric is very open and the brooches had no place to hold them well. These little flowers were the perfect solution, because I fixed the brooches to them and then I put each flower in its place with a little silicone.

Por último teji una una vuelta de puntos bajos sobre una cadena para usarla de colgante y la fijé directamente sobre el tejido con ganchos en forma de corazón. Conseguí un broche en cuál fijé sobre unas pequeñas flores de crochet y los pegue en la parte interna. Esto además de algo decorativo, fue la solución para el problema que tenía al colocar los broches porque el tejido es muy abierto y los mismos no tenían de dónde sujetarse bien. Estás pequeñas flores fueron la solución perfecta, pues fijé los broches a ellas y luego puse cada flor en su lugar un poco de silicón. .

Finally I gave use to these grannys that were looking at me with a certain pleading waiting for me to give them a nice use and here it is. A comfortable bag with a vibrant color that makes any outfit. I say goodbye until next time but not before wishing you a blessed day.
