[ENG/ESP] My first order: Amigurumi Maxi Elephant./Mi primer encargo: Amigurumi Maxi Elefante.

What a pleasure to greet you lovers of needle arts. Today I am excited to share this post because it is my first amigurumi commission. My friend Elsa, who I have shared with you before, came to visit me and had the opportunity to see the little elephant that I made some time ago for my little girl. Elsa was hooked on the elephant and asked me to make one for her niece who will have her birthday soon.

Que gusto saludarles amantes de las artes con agujas. Hoy me emociona compartir ésta publicación y es porque se trata de mi primer encargo de amigurumi. Mi amiga Elsa, de quién ya les he compartido antes, fue a visitarme y tuvo la oportunidad de ver la pequeña elefante que realice hace un tiempo para mi niña, pues Elsa quedó enganchada con la elefante y me pidió hiciera una para su sobrina que estará de cumpleaños próximamente.

Elsa wanted her elephant to be very similar to the one my daughter has but a little bigger, however I made some changes in the skirt, and also to form the body, since my first elephant was not so aesthetic due to the way I joined the legs to the body.

Elsa quería que su elefante fuera de con muy parecida a la que tiene mi hija pero un poco más grande, sin embargo le hice algunos cambios en la falda, y también al formar el cuerpo, ya que mi primer elefante no quedó tan estético debido a la manera en que uní las piernas al cuerpo.

Now, I am going to share with you some pictures of the making process, but this is not a tutorial on how to make this elephant since it is almost the same as the previous one. However, I want to mention that making an amigurumi for someone else produced in me a feeling of anxiety because I did not know what would be the reaction of my friend Elsa, I felt very expectant and I tend to be much more demanding with myself when it comes to please the tastes of others.

Ahora bien, les voy a ir compartiendo algunas fotos del proceso de elaboración, pero este no es un tutorial sobre cómo hacer esta elefante ya que es casi el mismo de la anterior. Sin embargo, deseo mencionarles que el hacer un amigurumi para alguien más produjo en mí una sensación de ansiedad porque no sabía cuál sería la reacción de mi amiga Elsa, me sentía muy expectante y suelo ser mucho más exigente conmigo misma cuando se trata de complacer los gustos de otras personas.

Every certain advance of the figure made me doubt and I had the desire to do other things to it, but it forced me to remember that I had to first be faithful to the client's specifications, in this case Elsa, and secondly that I had to focus on giving her the neatest finish possible, which is what guarantees that a quality work is delivered.

Cada cierto avance de la figura me hacía dudar y tenía el deseo de hacerle otras cosas, pero me obligaba a recordar que debía primero ser fiel a las especificaciones del cliente, en este caso Elsa, y segundo que debía enfocarme en darle acabados lo más prolijo posibles, que es lo que garantiza que se entregue un trabajo de calidad.

Even so, I am very aware that I have to improve my technique, but I feel very encouraged because Elsa was happy with the result and especially with the changes I made to the elephant, the flowers on one ear and the skirt which are basically the most noticeable changes and she was also satisfied with the size.

Aun así, estoy muy consciente de que debo que tengo que mejorar mi técnica, pero me siento muy animada porque Elsa estuvo feliz con el resultado y especialmente con los cambios que le hice a la elefante, las flores sobre una oreja y la falda que básicamente son los cambios más notables y también estuvo satisfecha con el tamaño.

On the other hand, it fills me with joy that another person was also encouraged to place an order for his little girl and this thanks to the fact that he saw the work I did for Elsa and was fascinated and I even more so.

Por otro lado me llena de regocijo que otra persona también se animó a hacer un pedido para su niña y esto gracias a que vio el trabajo que hice para Elsa y quedó fascinado y yo aún más.
