Hello Hive friends! Today I'm going to show you how I made a backpack from a pair of work overalls. Last time I made a handbag, and now the same person wants a backpack, so without hesitation, I started sewing this one. This is a great way to recycle clothes we don't use anymore and make something new and useful, since the person I made the backpack for will use it for work.

I started by unpicking the zipper. Then I unpicked the waistband to separate the shirt from the pants. I'm going to work on the top part first; if I'm short of pieces, I'll use the pants. With the front and back of the shirt, I'll make the two main flaps of the bag, using the pockets so they face the front.

Now I'll use the waistband to attach the zipper; it seemed the right width for the zipper and the sides.

Now I'm going to cut out two thick strips because these will be the straps on the back of the backpack. The first thing to do before joining the pieces is to sew the backpack straps and the handle.

Then I sewed the sides to the back and then to the front.
