Hello everyone
A beautiful day to you all on this lovely day in this great community I hope you are all doing great, it's another Monday for us all to share and learn beautiful creativity from others. It's my pleasure to share with you today the making of a beautiful straight skirt with double step peplum blouse made for my sister for an event.
This is one of the outfit my sister love and appreciate so much in recent times that I have made her outfit, few weeks ago, she and her husband were to attend a final burial service of one of their church members and they were to put on same outfit with other church members as uniform for the event and I was contacted to make a beautiful outfit for her. Don't be surprised, this is how it is being done here to celebrate the dead at old age in a grand celebration.
Join me in the cutting and sewing process
First, I cut out a straight skirt pattern with zipper allowance at the back and an inverted slit
I cut out lining to turn it inside out and it was sewn together with the side seam allowance and zipper sewn at the back
The remaining fabric was folded to cut out the upper bodice of a princess dart bustier using her bodice measurement as it was first draft on a brown paper before it was trimmed out and placed on the main fabric to cut out same shape for the front and back with zipper allowance
I cut out the lining to turn it inside out while I ironed padded at the center front and it was sewn together to have a beautiful princess dart bustier upper bodice.
The front and back of the upper bodice were sewn together and set aside as I proceeded to the cutting of the double flare
For the flare, I cut out a 720° flare using the main fabric with the waist circumference measurement and full length measurement.
Interfacing was ironed on it and I cut out lining to turn it inside out for neat finishing and the flare were sewn together to make a full 720° flare.
The other flare was cut out with a matching color satin fabric which was used to cut out a 360° flare, I ironed interfacing on it as well and lining was used to turn it inside out for neat finishing.
The two flare were sewn to the waist line of the upper bodice with the plain color flare sewn from the center front to the center back of the zipper allowance.
I proceeded to cut out a basic sleeves and sew it to the armhole circumference of the blouse.
Finally, I sew a long zipper to the zipper allowance at the back and I have a complete outfit for my sister.
To add more beauty to the outfit, I made a fabric flower from the pieces of left over from the plain fabric and added it to the side of the blouse and it looks so beautiful.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the straight skirt with double step peplum blouse I made for my sister using African print fabric. I hope you like the beautiful outcome of it.
My sister was so glad as she looked gorgeous in her beautiful outfit to the occasion.
