Beautiful creative friends!
I've been doing a lot of background work around my sewing practise, between DIY and reorganising my online presence...
I also got a few needlework jobs done, including turning a snood into this big fluffy collar for my beautiful sweatercoat (made out of old woolly jumpers).
I wasn't sooooo pleased with how it turned out in terms of aesthetics, but it is gorgeously perfectly cosy!
Anyhoo, recognising again my lack of mastery/ my early phase of mastery in tailoring, I thought to use drawing intuitively to clarify the kinds of shapes that I love - in coats particularly - before breinging ahead with the next project...
I enjoyed making these shapes, and thinking-feeling into how I can gain skills by observing and working slowly and meticulously.
My feeling is not to translate a form like this directly but to allow my skills + inspiration + intention + perseverence to come together alchemically, and thus to bring interesting and ever-more-fulfilling garments into the world!
I'm also taking advantage of the last week that I'll have my car on the road (no money to fund tax and insurance this year), to load up with raw materials from the 50c stall at the market in the valley... I'll miss this ritual hugely, but have to cut back on expenses whilst my income is so low.
At least I have a ton of fabrics and woolly stuffs, which I can revel in reinventing, whilst I am pedestrian!
Yum: looking very much forward to long nights sewing by the stove!
Love and abundance to you all!
Clare.
