Hola amigos, yo soy Lelys. Bienvenidos a mi blog. Estoy súper feliz de pasar de nuevo por la comunidad, en esta ocasión para compartirles otro de los momentos más bonitos que viví con mi mamá recientemente. Ella es una mujer sabía, tiene 85 años y siempre trata de conservarse lo más sana posible, no obstante en estos meses pasados estuvo muy complicada de salud y estuvo mucho tiempo en reposo. Su vida en la ciudad es aburrida y monótona por lo que quisimos organizar algunos proyectos para que su reposo y estadía aquí fuera más llevadera.
Entre los proyectos que se nos ocurrieron estaba el de hacer alfombras y demás manualidades con trapillo. Pero este trapillo sería artesanal. Así que mi mamá se encargó de buscar ropa vieja o usada que sirviera para cortar y usar. Ella le comentó a mi hermana menor y enseguida empezaron a seleccionar entre las ropas disponibles. Para su suerte hubo mucha tela de dónde cortar.
Hi friends, I'm Lelys. Welcome to my blog. I'm very happy to be back in the community, this time to share with you another of the most beautiful moments I lived with my mom recently. She is a wise woman, she is 85 years old and always tries to stay as healthy as possible, however in these past months she was in very bad health and was in bed for a long time. Her life in the city is boring and monotonous, so we wanted to organize some projects to make her rest and stay here more bearable.
Among the projects we came up with was to make carpets and other handicrafts with rag. But this rag would be handmade. So my mom took it upon herself to look for old or used clothes to cut and use. She told my younger sister and they immediately began to select among the available clothes. Luckily for them, there was plenty of fabric to cut from.
Todos los días mi mamá y yo tomábamos unas horas juntas para ir cortando las telas, estas se cortan de 2cm aproximadamente o más dependiendo del tipo de tela. Para mejores resultados es preferible usar telas de algodón, que sean algo elásticas. La verdad es que mi mamá es experta en la escogencia de las telas y en establecer la medida del corte. Yo fui más la ayudante en este paso, ella fue la maestra.
Hicimos varias bolitas u ovillos de trapillos. Seleccionadas por telas cortadas. Mi mamá estaba muy contenta y animada porque a ella le gusta tejer, pero ya no con hilos delgados porque su visión no está en óptimas condiciones. Sin embargo con el trapillo si le gusta porque teje rápido y sí puede ver los puntos.
Every day my mom and I took a few hours together to cut the fabrics, these are cut approximately 2cm or more depending on the type of fabric. For best results it is preferable to use cotton fabrics, which are somewhat elastic. The truth is that my mom is an expert in choosing the fabrics and establishing the size of the cut. I was more the assistant in this step, she was the teacher.
We made several balls or balls of rags. Selected by cut fabrics. My mom was very happy and encouraged because she likes to weave, but no longer with thin threads because her vision is not in optimal conditions. However with the rag she likes it because she knits fast and she can see the stitches.
Para los proyectos que quería tejer mi mamá con el trapillo utilizamos las agujas de crochet del número 7. Empezamos usando la número 5, pero yo le llevé luego la número 7 y a ella le gustó más. Es una aguja de aluminio de mango grueso y es liviana, a ella le fascinó tejer con esa aguja.
Hicimos varias pruebas tejiendo cadenetas y después ella decidió usar la aguja número 7 en todos los proyectos. Aprovechó de preguntarme cómo se teje circular. Ella antes tejía carpetas redondas, pero me dijo que no recordaba. Estuvimos unas horas practicando desde hacer el anillo mágico y las vueltas de aumentos ya que ella quería tejer alfombras redondas.
For the projects my mom wanted to knit with the rag we used the number 7 crochet needles. We started out using the number 5, but then I brought her the number 7 and she liked it better. It is an aluminum needle with a thick handle and it is light, she loved knitting with that needle.
We did several tests knitting chain stitches and then she decided to use the number 7 needle in all projects. She took the opportunity to ask me how to knit circular. She used to knit round folders, but told me she couldn't remember. We spent a few hours practicing from making the magic ring and increasing loops since she wanted to knit round rugs.
Gracias a Dios para estos días de realización del proyecto con trapillo mi mamá estaba bastante recuperada, pero igual pasaba mucho tiempo en el cuarto sin hacer mayor esfuerzo que salir a comer, asearse y conversar un rato. Sin embargo las horas que estuvo en su cama las supo aprovechar al máximo. Tejió como aprendiz principiante. Avanzó los proyectos de con una rapidez sorprendente.
Yo le había dado solo tres clases de tejido circular cuando un día baja mamá del cuarto, en casa de mi hermana, con una bolsa contentiva de tres alfombras redondas. ¡Qué! Me quedé sorprendida. En muy poco tiempo mi mamá había gastado todo el material. La verdad es que estaba muy contenta. Había tejido tres alfombras redondas, una de ellas era para mí. ¡Me encantó! Está la tengo debajo de mi mesa de trabajo, allí reposo mis pies mientras estoy tejiendo.
Thank God, by the time the project was finished, my mom was quite recovered, but she still spent a lot of time in her room without making any effort other than going out to eat, wash herself and talk for a while. However, she made the most of the hours she was in bed. She knitted like a beginner apprentice. She progressed through the projects with surprising speed.
I had only given her three circular knitting lessons when one day my mother came out of her room at my sister's house with a bag containing three round rugs. What! I was amazed. In a very short time my mom had used up all the material. The truth is that she was very happy. She had woven three round rugs, one of which was for me. I loved it! I have it under my work table, where I rest my feet while I am weaving.
Ya mi mamá sabía tejer alfombras rectangulares, por lo que en casa de mi hermana hay alfombras de trapillo en varias partes de la casa, especialmente en el cuarto de mi mamá. Allí ella tiene además las alfombras varios tapetes sobre las peinadoras y ahora que sabe tejer en circular también la enseñé a hacer cestas. Lamentablemente no le tomé foto de la cesta que tejió, pero en alguna otra oportunidad se las mostraré.
Yo estoy muy feliz de haber compartido con mi mamá este tiempo de tejiendo durante su recuperación. Mi mamá ahora está "sana", en su casa 🏠 allá en el pueblo. Y yo estoy aquí en mi casita contándoles mi hermosa experiencia. ¡Disfruten a sus padres y a sus hijos, lo más que puedan! Ellos son lo más importante y valioso que tenemos en esta vida.

My mom already knew how to weave rectangular rugs, so at my sister's house there are rugs in various parts of the house, especially in my mom's room. There she also has several rugs on the combers and now that she knows how to weave in circular weaving I also taught her how to make baskets. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the basket she wove, but some other time I will show it to you.
I am very happy to have shared this time of weaving with my mom during her recovery. My mom is now "healthy", at home 🏠 back in town. And I am here in my little house telling you about my beautiful experience. Enjoy your parents and your children, as much as you can! They are the most important and valuable thing we have in this life.
