Today was quite an eventful day at the Fashion School and it's great so see how much progress I'm making as I look forward to the end of my classes in some weeks time. I look forward to starting to look for my own business space and setting it up as well in the coming weeks. I have told some agents to start searching for a suitable space for my business in a strategic area and at a decent budget of between #300, 000 - #500, 000. In short, I can wait to start my business.
We have been working so much these days as a result of the generator we are running daily due to the lack of power. There have been no power for some weeks and we have to resort to the use of generators.
Diesel have become so expensive so we utilize every single moment that the generator is switched on. So, what we do daily is to use the first few hours after resuming for the day to cut our fabrics into pieces and when everyone is done we switch the generators on so that we can iron our pieces and start sewing.
All the sewing machines in my madam's shop are electric, so we may not be able to work without electricity. The cost of running a diesel generator is quite expensive so we must ensure that all hands are on deck when the generator is on. However, the high cost of running the shop has made the prices of sewing increase slightly just like every other thing in the country. We hope these prices will come down soon because there are customers who take their fabrics back home as they couldn't afford the high cost of making a dress, a good one.
I have been making a particular dress for my boss since yesterday which I finished today. The dress is for sale for any prospective buyer because it will be displayed in the shop at the frontage for passerby to see.
Normally, we use my madam's measurements for the dresses that are for sale and if anyone likes it we may have to adjust it to suit them or we make another one for them, and some people may demand for a different color or pattern of dress but the same style. I had to close late from work today so as to conclude the work because I won't be going to work tomorrow. I will be taking a day off to rest.
