We are back to our pattern of “I got an order from a client…”
So I got an order from a client requesting this pink short gown (and yeah she sent an inspo of what she wanted to get to me).
Bear in mind that I have never made this design/pattern before but I told her yes, I can make it and we went on to the due process of placing an order and all that.
Started with the top part of the fit , made a base and used reducing stitches till I got the width I wanted for the neck ties and as expected I made a duplicate of the piece I had made before and connected both parts when I finished.
I went on to make the part in between the top and the skirt. It was a little tricky because I had to increase and decrease at some point, I did frog it a few times, I had the pattern but the shape was wrong and I finally got it.
It was fun making the v stitches because it was sooooo easy. I am a huge fan of mesh and mesh looking stitches so yeah I most definitely had lots of fun making that part.
The skirt was the worst, I guess, not the stitch pattern though, just that I got confused and I was frogging multiple times and it was really tiring. I started with double crochets and did lots of rows and realized it wasn’t giving the pattern so I had to loosen the whole fit and start over twice or so( I don’t think I’m one of those patient crocheters so I was already fuming here).
I tried making it again with puff stitches and boom it worked. Trust me even after four rows I was still skeptical if it’ll work or not because I got tired of frogging the outfit and I’m pretty sure the outfit was tired of me at this point.
I finished up the skirt and went on to the ruffles. I wanted the ruffles to ruffle (hahahahaha) and I mean actually ruffle (hahaha). I started working on the ruffles and I had to increase on every row it came out perfectly. I stopped after making a few rows of ruffles though.
I got loads of compliments way before I put the dress on the mannequin and once I did everyone was admiring and telling me they want to learn how to make it or they wanna buy.
I felt really good like this is the first time I’m making this and it came out perfectly. I'm so happy that was the outcome.
