It has been 3 months since I last showed up here, a lot happened and I also got to create and design a whole lot too.
First on today’s list is this design I made for my brand’s Christmas shoot but before we get into it, how have you beeeeeeen?
I’ve missed you all so so muchhhhhhhh, I’m so happy to be back here and as usual I’m about to yap my way through this entire blog.
This was my first trial with duplicating a fast fashion design, I saw it, liked it and yes I made a few tweaks but the base is a design we all know.
I was experimenting with different stitches on this dress, so I did jasmine stitch for the neck (first time actually and it’s pretty thickkkkkk) and then a mix of dc and front post stitches for the body. I'm not going to lie, pretty dress but I almost lost my life 😂 figuratively of course.
I convinced myself to use 2ply yarn with a 2.5mm hook and this dress took eternity to complete, it wasn’t all bad butttt I completed the dress the night to the shoot so I had zero time on my side.
I had fun especially when I was building (this sounds funny 😂) the dress from the top. One thing about me I’ll explore just how far I can tweak the design and with this I did increasing stitches till I went round.
Shoots are something I’m still trying to get used to, especially as someone that likes to build literal documents for every plan I have. I did pull through because I made plans in advance.
My jewelry vendor had the sketch and recommended beautiful jewelry to go with it. My makeup artist pulled through and delivered this stunning look once my model had her dress on all my worries vanished.
Shoot day came and it was just wonderful, I mean I looked like I had spent nights working on the outfitters circles and outfit looking like I was a resurrected mummy, but that did not matter, my model looked stunning and I was grinning like I just won a lottery and I mean… I did.
The shoot happened and I was anxiously waiting for the results and damnnnnnnnnnnn🔥 I actually made that, with my hands!!! Can you imagine that?
This might sound a bit dramatic but making it and it comes out just how you envisioned is absolutely no jokeeeeee, I spent days sketching and sketching and sketching, till I got this variation and then crocheting for hours on end while it looked like I made zero progress and then it all worked it.
I honestly can’t wait to show you what I will be making, I have sketched a lot and I’m so giddy right now.
