Happy start of the week to all my beautiful Hive people, something that I have loved since I started posting in this community is the desire to learn new techniques and make things that maybe before I would not have given me the opportunity to learn.

At home we almost always have scraps of fabric that we are saving or at worst throwing away, I have a few that I have been saving to see what I could do with them in the future and so I can make the most of them.
This week I was watching some videos to inspire me and I got one of the Casa del Risco Museum, where they taught me how to create Mexican dolls, of course to make it as they do I still have a long way to go, although I have practiced a lot and each time I was improving or learning the technique and this is the last one I did after several attempts.
En casa casi siempre tenemos retazos de tela que vamos guardando o en el peor de casos botando, yo tengo unos cuantos que he ido guardando para ver que podría hacer con ellos en futuro y así poder aprovecharlos al máximo.
Esta semana estaba viendo algunos videos para inspirarme y me conseguí uno del Museo Casa del Risco, donde enseñaban a crear unas muñecas mexicanas, claro está que para hacerla tal cual como ellas me falta mucho, a pesar de que he practicado mucho y cada vez iba mejorando o aprendiendo la técnica y esta es la última que hice después de varios intentos.
For this I used:
- 1 piece of light-colored fabric of 15 x 10 cm (for the body).
- 1 piece of the same color, 7 x 5 cm (for the arms)
- Thread of the same color as the fabric
- 1 piece of printed fabric 13 x 5 cm (for the skirt)
- 13 cm of 1 cm wide lace, in a contrasting color to the skirt >fabric
- Crochet thread to match the skirt (for the blouse)
- 10 strands of yellow woolen thread for hair.
- 2 strands of crochet thread for hair braid.
- Blue and red embroidery thread (for the eyes and mouth)
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors, ruler, pencil
- Liquid silicone.
Para ello utilicé:
- 1 retazo de tela de color claro de 15 x 10 cm (para el cuerpo)
- 1 retazo del mismo color de 7 x 5 cm (para los brazos)
- Hilo del mismo color que la tela
- 1 retazo de tela estampada de 13 x 5 cm ( para la falda)
- 13 cm de encaje de 1 cm de ancho, en color que haga contraste con la tela de la falda
- Hilo de crochet que combine con la falda (para la blusa)
- 10 hebras de hilo de lana color amarillo para el cabello
- 2 hebra de hilo de crochet para la trenza del cabello.
- Hilo de bordar azul y rojo (para los ojos y la boca)
- Aguja de bordar
- Tijera, regla lápiz
- Silicón liquido.
- To begin with, we roll up the large fabric so that it is not too loose and not too tight.
- Para comenzar enrollamos la tela grande que no nos quede ni muy suelta y muy ajustada.
- Then we put silicone on the end and wait for it to stick.
- Luego le colocamos silicón en el extremo y esperamos a que pegue
- Fold it in half and mark it, do the same with the hair thread.
- Doblamos a la mitad y marcamos, hacemos lo mismo con el hilo del cabello.
- Then we place them in the shape of a cross and we place each end of the thread on the other side in a crossed.
- Luego los colocamos en forma de cruz y posamos cada extremo del hilo al otro lado de manera cruzada.
- We fold our fabric and adjust the threads so that they are tight but not tight. With the thread of the same color of the fabric we wind several turns to mark the face of the doll.
- Doblamos nuestra tela y ajustamos bien los hilos que queden ajustados más no apretados. Con el hilo del mismo color de la tela enrollamos varias vueltas para marcar la cara de la muñeca.
- Now with the small fabric we roll it finely and place it under the mark of the face well centered and again we pass the thread around it several times, to adjust the arms.
- Ahora con la tela pequeña la enrollamos finamente y la colocamos debajo de la marca de la cara bien centrado y de nuevo pasamos el hilo alrededor varias veces, para ajustar los brazos.
- Having the body of the doll ready, we proceed to assemble the skirt, for which we put silicone on the end of the printed fabric and glue the lace.
- Teniendo ya el cuerpo de la muñeca listo procedemos a montar la falda, para lo cual colamos silicón en el extremo de la tela estampada y pegamos el encaje.
- Then on the back of the doll we place a drop of silicone and glue the corner of the fabric.
- Luego en la espalda de la muñeca colocamos una gota de silicón y pegamos la esquina de la tela
- Wrap our doll as many times as necessary and glue the other corner with silicone.
- Envolvemos a nuestra muñeca la cantidad de veces necesarias y pegamos la otra esquina con silicón.
- Now with the wool thread for the blouse we pass several turns at the waist and then crosswise, as many times as necessary to form the blouse, cut the thread and glue with silicone.
- Ahora con el hilo de lana para la blusa pasamos varias vueltas en la cintura y luego en forma cruzada, tantas veces como sea necesaria hasta formar la blusa cortamos el hilo y pegamos con silicón.
- Then place the ribbon and make a small loop in each bow and weave a braid of the desired size, adjust with the ribbon and cut the excess.
- Luego colocamos el listón y hacemos un pequeño lazo en cada moño y tejemos una trenza del tamaño deseado, ajustamos con el listón y cortamos el excedente.
- With the blue embroidery thread, I used a French knot for each eye and with the red embroidery thread I made a chain for the mouth.
- Con el hilo de bordar azul borde con un nudo francés cada ojo y con el rojo hice una cadeneta para la boca.
After several attempts I managed to create my first fabric doll, now let's see which one each of my nieces will keep.
