Last June, I've experienced something new... something different... something unexpected. Safe to say, one of my recent dreams came true.
As I mentioned before, I have a crochet brand, called, MGotHooked, where I focus on designing and creating wardrobe-staple crocheted clothing. I really enjoy writing patterns and work with other artists in testing them.
Then one day, the teacher hat in me kicked in. I suddenly wanted to try facilitating a workshop, wherein I could share my knowledge on the craft to other people who are interested in learning. I even thought of curating a kit, which aspiring crocheters can use while starting their crochet journey. But just like my other daydreams, I thought these will all remain just in my bucket list/goals.
But guess what? A few months after, an opportunity came that made these ideas into a reality!
Sooooo yes! Last June, I facilitated my first-ever crochet workshop for beginners, which was held at The Attic Yarn and Hobby Studio! I call the workshop, Getting Hooked, with the hopes of getting more people be hooked with the craft.
Not only did I get to facilitate a workshop, but I also got to share my curated beginner's kit! Wow, right???
This experience was indeed added to my core memories. I absolutely loved every second of it, most especially those moments when the participants got to do their first-ever slip knot, chain, or stitch. We were happy; we were excited; and we celebrated together! I am lucky that I got to share this moment with such enthusiastic, patient, and kind group.
To be honest, nobody went home with a finished project. No one was expected to in the first place. This day was all about starting, learning, creating, and having fun. What we brought home were a new skill, new experience, and new happy memories. (And maybe new crafty budols from the studio! haha).
What a day. What an experience. Two of my favorites, teaching and art, in one? I could do this over and over again. I am grateful that God planted this dream in my heart.
I am also grateful to my friend, N, who volunteered to take a leave from work to accompany me in this milestone! ❤️
This is just the start. We will continue. We will grow. We will spread the love towards the craft even more.
I am looking forward on facilitating more workshops in different places soon. ❤️
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
