Amigurumi #170: Titi, el tawantinsuyense | Proceso de diseño | Cuy o Guinea pig amigurumi design process

Desde niña tenía la idea loca de dedicarme a plasmar (mediante el dibujo) nuestra realidad y así aportar conocimiento de alguna manera a las generaciones que vendrían, jaja. Luego en la Universidad tenía la loca idea de formarme como científica investigadora y así promover el potencial de nuestros alimentos ancestrales (aquí va otro "jaja").

Luego de múltiples introspeciones, mezclo lo anterior adicionando mis experiencias con el crochet, para crear a "Titi, el tawantinsuyense". ¡Veamos cómo fue esto!.

Since I was a child I had the crazy idea of dedicating myself to capture (through drawing) our reality and thus contribute knowledge in some way to the generations to come, jaja. Then at university I had the crazy idea of becoming a research scientist and thus promoting the potential of our ancestral foods (here's another "jaja").

After multiple introspetions, I mix the above with the addition of my experiences with crochet, to create "Titi, the tawantinsuyense". Let's see how it went!

La llegada de Titi fue emocionante. Era la 1° vez que criaba un cuy, en sí me interesaba más su guano y su carne, jaja. En resúmen, como era el pionero en casa, se llamaría "Titi". Por otro lado, me encantan los llaveros y tejí un Titi tamaño llavero. Este diseño en sí es sencillo, pronto lo verán por mi canal de YouTube.

Para el Titi tamaño 8cm, realicé 2 intentos previos. Al ver mis reservas de hilo, no tenía el mostaza (es como un amarillo oscuro) y solo tenía el amarillo vicuña (es como color madera claro). Cada que miraba a Titi real y al amigurumi, sentía que no se parecían.

Titi's arrival was exciting. It was the first time I had raised a guinea pig, I was more interested in its manure and meat, jaja. In short, as he was the pioneer at home, he would be called "Titi". On the other hand, I love keychain and I knitted a key ring sized Titi. This design itself is simple, you will soon see it on my YouTube channel.

For the Titi size 3.2in, I made 2 previous attempts. When I looked at my yarn stash, I didn't have the mustard (it's like a dark yellow) and I only had the vicuna yellow (it's like a light wood color). Every time I looked at the real Titi and the amigurumi, I felt they didn't look alike.

Nose si la disposición de la manchita de Titi sea común en los cuyes, pero a mí me gustó. Justo esa mancha hace que cambie el patrón para darle forma a la cabeza. Otro punto aquí fue el tamaño de los ojos. El cuy es un animalito muy observador, por lo que sus ojitos son clave en su representación.

I don't know if Titi's spotty disposition is common in guinea pigs, but I liked it. Just that spot makes the pattern change to shape the head. Another point here was the size of the eyes. The guinea pig is a very observant little animal, so its eyes are key in its representation.

Una de las curiosidades de Titi (de los cuyes) es que son algo potoncitos y al tener patas cortas caminan como reptando. Es decir, tiene una anatomía robusta (algo gordito). No suelo tejer personajes robustos (si desean otro día ampliaré más de este tema).

One of the curiosities of Titi (of the guinea pigs) is that they are somewhat "potoncitos" and having short legs they walk like crawling. That is to say, he has a robust anatomy (a bit chubby). I don't usually weave robust characters (if you wish, I'll expand on this subject another day).

Otra curiosidad de Titi y Witi (su pareja), es que les "gusta" comer plantas nativas. Aquí va mi lado agrónomo...La alfalfa es una planta introducida al igual que la soya, trigo y otros forrajes. Menciono a la alfalfa porque es fuente de protenínas para los animales herbívoros. Adicional a la alfalfa, le damos cáscara de verduras, hojas de camote, Diente de León, Mastuerzo o Lechuga de los Incas; es decir Titi tiene para escoger (por eso digo que le gusta).

Another curiosity with Titi and Witi (her partner), is that they "like" to eat native plants. Here goes my agronomist side... Alfalfa is an introduced plant just like soy, wheat and other fodder. I mention alfalfa because it is a source of protein for herbivorous animals. In addition to alfalfa, we give her vegetable peelings, sweet potato leaves, Dandelion, Mastuerzo or Inca Lettuce; in other words, Titi has a choice (that's why I say she likes it).
