Estos días me preguntaba ¿qué pasa si mientras diseño un muñeco no logro lo esperado?. Ante esta pregunta, aproveché la oportunidad de asistir a estos 2 eventos por el Día mundial del arte y el Día del emprendedor. Veámos qué encontré allí.

These days I've been wondering: what if, while I'm designing a doll, I don't get the result I was hoping for?. In light of this question, I took the opportunity to attend these two events for World Art Day and Entrepreneurship Day. Let’s see what I found there.

El felino || The feline

¿Recuerdas que estaba diseñando a Zayu, el jaguar?. Cuando estaba cerrando la cabeza y haciendo las disminuciones, había algo que no me convencía del todo. Era la forma de la cabeza y la distancia entre los ojos.

Luego, se me ocurrió diseñar un felino sin manchas, esto para lograr la forma de cabeza de felino. Sirviendo como un patrón base para el jaguar. Al inicio (foto izquierda) tampoco obtuve la forma que quería. Regresando de estos eventos, tenía ganas de comenzar nuevamente a diseñar la cabeza del felino (foto derecha) y esta vez sí me convenció.

Do you remember that I was designing Zayu, the jaguar?. As I was finishing up the head and working on the decreases, there was something that didn't quite sit right with me. It was the shape of the head and the distance between the eyes.

Then, I had the idea of designing a feline without spots, in order to achieve the shape of a feline head. Serving as a basic template for the jaguar. At first (photo on the left), I didn't get the shape I had in mind. After returning from these events, I was eager to start redesigning the cat’s head (photo on the right), and this time it really won me over.

Día mundial del arte || World Art Day

En las inaguración, el moderador dijo que el Estado debe preservar las expresiones artísticas con Identidad cultural y apoyar dando visibilidad a los artesanos. Eso reafirmó mis ganas de seguir difundiendo eso que tanto amo, las lenguas originarias y su cosmovisión, su cultura y forma de ver la vida. En el receso, ví a un artista que estaba pintando en vivo. Me dijo que normalmente demora unas horas en pintar murales.

At the opening ceremony, the moderator said that the government should preserve artistic expressions that reflect cultural identity and support artisans by raising their profile. That reaffirmed my desire to continue sharing what I love so much: Indigenous languages and their worldview, their culture, and their way of looking at life. At break time, I saw an artist painting live. He told me that it usually takes him a few hours to paint murals.

Marcelo Wong y Harry Chávez

Hace un tiempo ví una entrevista de Marcelo Wong. Ahora, escucharlo en vivo fue distinto, sentí mas su lado humano... Quizá porque le estaba hablando a artesanos. Nos contó su experiencia con el arte como hijo, papá y empresario. A Harry Chávez sí lo conocí recién, aunque días antes llamó mi atención lo amaru. Y es que en su estilo de arte, incorpora cosmovisión Andino, Amazónico y lo callejero o "Chicha".

A long time ago, I saw an article about Marcelo Wong. Now, hearing him speak in person was different; I really got a sense of his human side... Maybe because he was speaking to artisans. He told us about his experiences with art as a son, a father, and an businessman. I only met Harry Chávez recently, although a few days earlier I had noticed the amaru. The fact is that his artistic style incorporates Andean, Amazonian, and street or “Chicha” cultures.

Feria de emprendimientos

Bordados || Embroidery
Me alegra un montón cuando los eventos se realizan dentro de mi localidad o distrito. Los bordados definitivamente llamaron mi atención. A veces quiero aprender de todo... Ahora que lo recuredo, tengo un bordado pendiente.

I'm really excited when events are held in my community or district. The embroidery really caught my eye. Sometimes I want to learn everything... Now that I think about it, I still have some embroidery to finish.

Tejidos || Weaving

Cuando voy a ferias donde ofrecen muñecos tejidos, miro la presentación de los productos, los tamaños, la calidad del hilo utilizado y de los tejidos en general. Eso lo hago para tener en cuenta cuando vaya a una feria llevando a mis Khawamaruamigos. Esto de ofrecer mis productos en uns feria me emociona. Si logro entrar en una feria, haré una publiación por aquí.

When I go to trade shows where woven toys are sold, I look at the product displays, the sizes, the quality of the yarn used, and the weaves in general. I'll keep that in mind when I go to a fair with my Khawamaru friends. I'm really excited about the prospect of selling my products at a trade show. If I manage to get into one, I'll post about it here.
