El Chalán y las festividades de vacaciones || The Chalan and the holiday festivities

Cada inicio de vacaciones creía que el mes de enero era corto, a pesar de saber que tiene 31 días. Ahora que lo pienso, creo que es porque no tiene feriados ni fechas masivas, como: San Valentín, Día de la Madre, Navidad y una larga lista.

Como mi interés por conocer y promover mi cultura ancestral es mayor (jaja). Estoy atenta a las festividades tradicionales o eventos tradicionales. Por ejemplo, sé que se viene el Concurso de Marinera, La Fiesta de la Candelaria y el estreno de la película de José Olaya. Y este año me enteré que por donde vivo también estaba de aniversario, junto a la Capital.

Every time vacation started, I thought january was short, even though I knew it had 31 days. Now that I think about it, I believe it's because there are no holidays or big events, such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, and a long list of others.

My interest in learning about and promoting my ancestral culture is much greater (jaja).. For example, I know that the Marinera Contest, the Candelaria Festival, and the premiere of the Jose Olaya movie are coming up.. And this year I found out that where I live was also celebrating an anniversary, along with the capital.

A todo esto... Luego de tejer y destejer Chalanes anteriores, me quedo con este último que mide 16 cm de altura (imagen derecha). Se llama Jose Antonio y en unas horas estará disponible en la tienda Ravelry, para que lo descargues y tengas a tú Chalán.

Cada uno de mis diseños trae una historia del personaje. Es como si cada personaje cobrase vida. Ya que toqué ese tema, pronto si quisiera hacer cuentos con mis personajes... Eso será cuando tenga un equipo, en el futuro espero.

Each of my designs has a story behind the character. It's as if each character comes to life. Since I brought that up, I would soon like to write stories with my characters.... That will be when I have a team, hopefully in the future.

Al inicio solo se llamaría El Chalán. Luego se me ocurrió que mejor sonaría Jose Antonio, como la canción tan popular de Chabuca Granda. Y justo este personaje continúa con el objetivo de esa canción, la de tener presente parte de nuestra historia, nuestra tradición de los Caballos de paso y toda esa cultura que hay a su alrededor.

At first, it would simply be named The Chalan. Then it occurred to me that Jose Antonio would sound better, like the popular song by Chabuca Granda. And this character continues with the objective of that song, which is to keep part of our history alive, our tradition of Paso horses and all the culture that revolves around them.

También me inspiré en los niños danzantes de Marinera. Cada uno con un estilo único, sin importar si son del norte, sur, este, oeste, del exterior o interior del país. Los niños bailan con más osadía y diversión creo, jaja. Además del vestuario y estilo que lleva cada uno y en pareja.

Hay varios estilos o tipos de Marinera. Como existe una versión de Chalán con poncho, y ví pocos niños bailando con poncho, Jose Antonio es una versión más accesible a la realidad, creo. Aunque, sería chévre si cada uno le hace su ponchito, jaja.

I was also inspired by the Marinera dancing children. Each with a unique style, without regard to whether they are from the north, south, east, west, outside, or inside the country. Children dance with more daring and fun, I think, jaja. In addition to the costumes and style that each one wears and as a partner.

There are different styles or types of Marinera. Since there is a version of Chalán wearing a poncho, and I saw few children dancing with ponchos, Jose Antonio is a version that is more accessible to reality, I think. Although, it would be cool if everyone made their own little poncho, jaja.

Tenía planeado tejer al Chilalo como su mascota. Luego decidí hacerle un video tutorial, el cual verás muy pronto. El Chilalo es un ave importante en la costa norte del Perú, por eso será el amigo o mascota de Jose Antonio.

I had planned to crochet Chilalo as his pet. Then I decided to make a video tutorial, which you will see very soon. The Chilalo is an important bird on the northern coast of Peru, which is why it will be Jose Antonio's friend or pet.
