Women's Day Challenge: Gladys Tejeda

Como se habrán dado cuenta, me encanta difundir la cultura peruana, al menos lo poco que sé (jaja). Durante muchos años como país, hemos olvidado los distintos deportes, dándole importancia únicamente al fútbol. Desde la década pasada en el país surgieron diversas prácticas deportivas, entre ellas tenemos: atletismo, taekwondo, bádminton, tiro con arco, tenis, karate, surf, pentatlón, judo, etc.

As you may have noticed, I love to spread Peruvian culture, at least the little I know (haha). For many years as a country, we have forgotten the different sports, giving importance only to football. Since the last decade, various sports have emerged in the country, among them: athletics, taekwondo, badminton, archery, tennis, karate, surfing, pentathlon, judo, etc.

Si hay una mujer a la que admiro, ella es Gladys Tejeda. Ella es una atleta olímpica, maratonista reconocida internacionalmente. En los Juegos Panamericanos del 2019, todo el país la apoyó y felizmente ganó y nos trajo una medalla. Desde el 2010, ella participó en diversas maratones y medias maratones superando su récord personal. Su próximo objetivo es correr en los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020.

If there is one woman I admire, it is Gladys Tejeda. She is an Olympic athlete, an internationally recognised marathon runner. In the 2019 Pan American Games, the whole country supported her and happily she won and brought us a medal. Since 2010, she participated in several marathons and half marathons beating her personal record. Her next goal is to run in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Lo que resalto de ella, es la manera de ver las cosas. Esa, donde analizas un momento y sabes que puedes lograrlo, a pesar que el panorama sea adverso. Quizá sea la suma de la perseverancia, confianza en sí misma y las ganas que le pone a las acciones que realiza. Ella vive en el departamento de Junín, a una altura de 4105msnm (metros sobre el nivel del mar), es una zona alto andina, donde hay climas extremos. Si bien tiene genes resistentes adaptados para correr, lo difícil es decidir si te dedicarás a eso toda la vida, sabiendo que tienes que ser la mejor para acercarte a tú objetivo.

What stands out about her is her way of looking at things. That, where you analyse a moment and you know that you can achieve it, even if the outlook is adverse. Perhaps it is the sum of perseverance, self-confidence and the desire she puts into her actions. She lives in the department of Junín, at an altitude of 4105msnm (metres above sea level), a high Andean area, where there are extreme climates. Although she has resistant genes adapted to running, the difficult thing is to decide if you will dedicate your whole life to it, knowing that you have to be the best you can be to get closer to your goal.

Esta vez quise centrarme en el detalle de las zapatillas y las medias (fig. 1 y 2). Seguido del cuerpo. Tejí ambos brazos, cabeza y orejas (fig. 3 y 4).

This time I wanted to focus on the detail of the shoes and socks (fig. 1 and 2). Followed by the body. I knitted both arms, head and ears (fig. 3 and 4).
