Saludos querida comunidad, les cuento que en este mes he tenido cuatro encargos de amigurumis de tamaño grande es decir entre 30 y 25 cm, digo grandes porque estoy acostumbrada a hacer figuras de pequeño formato entre 10 y 15 cm porque estas son las que se venden con mas facilidad, esto es lógico porque aunque hacer piezas pequeñas es incluso mas complicado, también es cierto que la diferencia de precios es lo atrae a la gente, pues como el gasto de material es menor el precio se reduce un poco animando a las personas a hacer encargos.
Greetings dear community, I wanted to let you know that this month I've had four orders for large amigurumi, between 25 and 30 cm. I say large because I'm used to making small figures between 10 and 15 cm, as these are the ones that sell more easily. This makes sense because although making small pieces is even more complicated, it's also true that the price difference is what attracts people. Since the cost of materials is lower, the price is reduced a bit, encouraging people to place orders.
En vista de que debía hacer figuras de un tamaño que no es habitual para mi decidí usar también los ganchillos que casi nunca uso, es decir los de 2.5 y 3.5 mm, esto a la vez me emocionaba mucho porque aunque la cantidad de puntadas es prácticamente la misma al usar generalmente ganchillo de 1.25 mm con una hebra de hilo, que al usar ganchillo de 2.5 mm y hebra doble, me da la sensación de que avanzó mas rápido porque todo es mas grande.
Since I had to make figures of a size that is not usual for me, I decided to also use the crochet hooks that I almost never use, that is, the 2.5 and 3.5 mm ones. This also excited me a lot because although the number of stitches is practically the same when using a 1.25 mm crochet hook with one strand of yarn, when using a 2.5 mm crochet hook and double strand, it gives me the feeling that I advance faster because everything is bigger.
No obstante, después de haber trabajo tantos días seguidos, habiendo terminado dos de los cuatro amigurumis grandes, mi ganchillo de 2.5 mm se partió en medio del proyecto 😭, se que mi cuerpo me pedía una pausa pero realmente no esperaba que fuese de esa forma tan forzada, se que mi ganchillo no era de la mejor calidad pero tampoco imaginé que se partiría solo después de dos proyectos, también recuerdo que me costó mucho conseguir ese tipo de ganchillo en mi ciudad pues siempre venden ganchillos de acero de las medidas pequeñas pero de 2 mm en adelante es casi imposible, de verdad espero que pueda conseguir rápido otro ganchillo de la misma medida porque no puedo continuar con una medida menor o mayor si estoy usando el mismo tipo de hilo, de lo contrario me tocará pedir el ganchillo en una tienda online y posiblemente esperar una semana para recibir el paquete, lo cual sería el peor escenario porque retrasaría la entrega a mi cliente.
However, after working for so many days straight, having finished two of the four large amigurumi, my 2.5 mm crochet hook broke in the middle of the project 😭. I know my body was telling me to take a break, but I really didn’t expect it to happen so suddenly. I know my hook wasn’t the best quality, but I also didn’t imagine it would break on its own after just two projects. I also remember how difficult it was to find that type of hook in my city, as they always sell steel hooks in the smaller sizes, but anything 2 mm or larger is almost impossible to find. I really hope I can get another hook of the same size quickly because I can’t continue with a smaller or larger size if I’m using the same type of yarn. Otherwise, I’ll have to order the hook from an online store and possibly wait a week to receive the package, which would be the worst-case scenario because it would delay the delivery to my client.
Por otro lado en tantos años dedicándome al crochet esta es la segunda vez que se me parte un ganchillo, el primero fue uno con mango de plástico y por eso nunca quise volver a usar de ese material, sin embargo estoy sorprendida de ver como este de aluminio igualmente se partió. Deséenme suerte para salir de este pequeño inconveniente con mi proyecto y cuéntenme en los comentarios si alguna vez se les ha partió un ganchillo.
On the other hand, in all my years of crocheting, this is only the second time a crochet hook has broken on me. The first one had a plastic handle, and that's why I never wanted to use that material again. However, I'm surprised to see that this aluminum one broke too.
