There were many (Pinay) crocheters who expressed their difficulty to work with black yarn. In the past, I had no problem working with any color, my clients requested and black was fine for me. It wasn't until recently that I had finally accepted the fact that I'm on the stage where I had to focus more intently on the task at hand. At least during the day, I can clearly see the stitches, but at night, I can't see them clearly and have to re-do the whole thing because of a few missing stitches.
Last two days, I received an order from a customer. I was delighted of course for the transaction but I got also worried of her color choice which is BLACK! I tried to persuade her on changing it into color red but she STILL WANTED THE BLACK ONE. Okay, so I have no choice but to face the struggles of using the Black yarn during night time.
I got my 2.75mm crochet hook, my scissor, some beads (for the tassels to be decorated on the top) and of course the Black yarn.
I begin making a crochet lace doily which will be placed on the top of the croptop separately on day time since I don't want to miss a stitch for this design.
After that, I made the bottom part of the croptop starting below going up in decreasing manner. I remember doing this part one night and was thankful that the stitches were all double crochet which means I can feel the stitches with my hand and crochet even if I can't see it clearly.
Then I slowly attach first the lace doily on the left part of the top as I go upward then followed the right side, just like in the picture below.
Then the next morning, I made single crochet on the edges including two ties (on the neck part) and two holes on every side for the ties to insert at the back of the croptop for perfect fit. And made some crochet shells on the lower edge to match the design of the paired short. I also made a separate tie for the back of the top inserting it on the holes I made just a while ago. Finally, I made five tassels with beads (that hang on the front of the top).
This is the final look of the commissioned project I did together with the crochet Rasta colored short.
I was relieved after I made the top and was able to pass my struggles in using black yarn. And now I was thinking of maybe getting a glasses for myself. Maybe that will help a lot.
Anyway, do you also share the same experience as I had? Did you also had some struggles in crocheting the black yarn? I'd be happy to know your side of story. Just drop your comment below.
Thank you for reading and God bless us all.
