This past December and begiinning of January have been UNUSUALLY COLD!
We normally have a pretty mild December and winter doesn't really kick off until January but I guess we have been affected by the polar vortex and it has been often sub zero with crazy windchill temps 😨
I have a few pairs of mittens but find I don't wear them much because I am constantly taking them off to do something that requires dexterity. It's been on my mind a while to make some fingerless gloves and I was able to work these up in one day!
I used Bernat premium yarn (acrylic because I don't have time for hand washing wool atm) and while it makes a nice end result I found it slightly annoying to work with, it was splitting a fair amount.
Hook: 6mm / The ribbing is half double crochet back loop only and the remaining part is made with moss stitch which is still my current obsession :)
I didn't use any pattern and basically just free handed them while trying them on a lot while I was shaping the thumb hole so they fit very well on me.
These are pretty chunky so I might make myself a more delicate pair for fall/spring.
