Hello crafters,
I copied nature!
Last Monday our geotechnical soil boring test outfit went to the Municipality of Balamban, a mountain barangay west of Cebu, 28 km far from the City. They left about 6 am arrived at the project site about 11am because our service was just the small multicab loaded with heavy equipments while the road was always going up. I knew that Angel's Trumpet tree grew just by the roadside of Balamban, so, I told my son and the drillers to bring home that plant.
Thankful much, the project was successful plus they got me Angel's Trumpet plant with flower which I right away immersed in water. The next morning I planted it in a bottled water container and placed on a temporary table like, the 4 old car tire that I stacked on top of each other because the service car was replaced with heavy duty car tire for mountainous drive.
This was the flower when they gave it to me. When I posted this on my FB timeline pm right away that this flower was poisonous, so I must be careful. Thanks much, then my friends commented.
called me also. Hmm, so I transferred it outside the house. But, that night I tried crocheting to copy the flower.
Using mercerized cotton and 1.5 mm hook.
In my first try I think 7 x frogged. It was trial and error. Wednesday morning oh my my the flower dried up. The was long and a big peach yellowish flower.
Thursday morning, wow! There was another bloom.
That night I changed color to crochet because I was not satisfied with the cyan and ecru colorway I used. After making the stem with the yellow green colorway I attached the yellow gold color plus ecru, I love love the result. So, inspiring I easily made half of the flower.
Here is the pattern. For the stem:
Begin(beg) with Chain(ch) 1, 1 half double crochet(hdc) into ch 1, [ ch 1 again, 1 hdc into 3 loops of previous hdc] repeat 10x. Fold then slip stitch(sl st) into the beg ch and 5 sl st all around. Cut longer to close both sides.
Main flower:
Row 1: Insert gold yellow(gy) color, ch 2 (considered as 1st dc), 4 dc in each sl st, sl st into 1st ch of ch 2. Repeat until Row 8. (5 dc)
Row 9: ch 3, 1 extended double crochet (edc) in each 4 dc, sl st into 3rd ch of beg ch 3 to join. ( 5 edc)
Row 10: ch 3, 2 edc in next st, 1 edc in next, 2 edc in next, 1 edc last st, sl st into 3rd ch of beg ch 3 to join. (7 edc)
Row 11: same as Row 10.
Row 12: increase to 9 edc
Row 13: increase to 11 edc
Row 14: ch 2, down with gy, bring in ecru(e), all dc alternate the color. (12 dc)
