ENG/ESP Santa Claus Rattlesnake. / Santa Claus Cascabel.

Blessed Needlepoint Monday. I can already feel the Christmas air and this year I am going to have a new Christmas tree. In this sense, I have to start early with the decorations since I don't have much so far. On the other hand, it is a bit expensive to decorate a tree from scratch and to help my economy I want to make some crochet decorations.

Bendecido lunes de agujas. Ya se siente el aire navideño y este año voy a estrenar árbol de navidad. En este sentido me toca empezar con tiempo con las decoraciones ya que no es mucho lo que tengo hasta ahora. Por otro lado, es un poco costoso decorar un árbol desde cero y para ayudar en mi economía quiero realizar varias decoraciones en crochet.

Yesterday I was working on this little Santa Claus head, and for this I used a large bell, which helps to speed up the work due to the fact that you don't have to have a head, that is, we only work on the hat and beard and it's perfect if we are looking to save time. It also looks nice and catches the eye because it is actually a bell.

Ayer estuve trabajando en esta pequeña cabeza de Santa Claus, y para ello utilicé un cascabel grande, lo cual ayuda a agilizar el trabajo debido a que no hay que tener una cabeza, es decir, solo trabajamos en el gorro y la barba y es perfecto si lo que buscamos es ahorrar tiempo. También queda bonito y llama la atención porque en realidad es un cascabel.

The cap I started with a chain of 35 stitches and we close it with a slip stitch, so we get a big ring in which we will work half a double crochet in each stitch until we complete the round. We start each row with two chains that replace the first half double crochet. We advance to the fourth row. We decrease every 5 stitches in the fifth row and in the next row we decrease every 4 stitches and then every three stitches. Then we knit 4 rows without decreases.

El gorro lo empecé con una cadena de 35 puntos y la cerramos con un punto deslizado, así obtenemos un anillo grande en el cual vamos a trabajar medio punto alto en cada punto hasta completar la vuelta. Cada vuelta la comenzamos con dos cadenas que reemplazan el primero medio punto alto. Avanzamos hasta la cuarta vuelta. Realizamos disminuciones cada 5 puntos en la quinta vuelta y en la siguiente realizamos disminuciones cada 4 puntos y luego cada tres puntos. Seguidamente tejemos 4 vueltas sin disminuciones.

When we have a height that allows us to fold the hat, we continue with the decreases until we finish in a point and close the knitting. Al tener una altura que nos permita doblar el gorro, continuamos con las disminuciones hasta terminar en una punta y cerramos el tejido. Realizamos una esfera para la punta de gorro y la cosenos antes de doblar la punta. Elegí darle unas puntadas para que se mantuviera doblado. Además el acabado es más limpio. Corté una tira de tela de peluche y la pegué en el borde del gorro. Luego pegué el gorro al cascabel y un par de ojos movibles.

I had some small adhesive beard figures made with foami, I glued them to the bell but I didn't like the result. So I decided to make one with puff stitches. I knitted 14 chain stitches plus two more and made a puff stitch leaving one stitch unknitted. As a base I obtained 7 puff stitches and knitted a puff stitch in the middle of each one of the previous row, in this way it decreases and takes an angular shape.

Tenía unas pequeñas figuras de barbas adhesivas hechas con foami, las pegué al cascabel pero no me gustó mucho el resultado. Así que me animé a realizar una con puntos puff. Tejí 14 puntos de cadena más dos un realicé un punto puff dejando un punto sin tejer. Como base obtuve 7 puntos puff y tejí un punto puff en medio de cada uno de la vuelta anterior, de esta manera va disminuyendo y toma forma angular.

I knitted until there were two puff stitches left. But in my opinion the beard was too sharp, so I made a double backwards and glued it with silicone, leaving the knitting in four puff stitches. A little mustache and it was ready. A nice Santa Claus bell. I hope you like it and it occurs to me that they can also be made with pine cones, they would be very nice. Tejí hasta que quedaron dos puntos puff. Pero en mi opinión la barba estaba muy puntiaguda por eso realicé un dobles hacia atrás y lo pegue con silicona, dejando el tejido en cuatro puntos puff. Un pequeño bigote y quedó listo. Un bonito cascabel de Santa Claus. Espero les guste y se me ocurre que también se pueden hacer con piñas de pino, quedarían muy bonitas.
