Blessed day my dear needleworkers; happy start of the week, I hope you are in good health and with lots of energy to continue creating with our needles.
I am quite excited with my list of pending projects. I am still going on with the challenge I started several weeks ago and I can say that it has been very hard for me not to fall into the temptation to go out and buy some new yarns; so far I have been able to work only and exclusively with the material I have at home.
My favorite day to start a new project is Sunday as it is the day I can take more time to watch tutorials and choose a pattern. Lately it has taken me more time than usual, as I used to choose the pattern and then go out and buy the necessary material. Now I have to go through my box of yarns and see if what's in there can be used to make a complete project. Many times the projects I like require more yarn than I have in stock,or simply a different thickness or texture. So I have to adapt to what I have and change my mind or modify the pattern.
I started this challenge with the intention of curbing my habit of compulsive buying of wool, yarn and crochet needles. However, after having completed 5 projects I realized that it has also served to stimulate my creativity and imagination. I have been able to use some tricks to obtain different colors and textures; as well as I have modified some patterns.
This time I'm excited to show you this colorful triangle Crop Top that I knitted this weekend. This is a summer garment, ideal to wear on a trip to the beach, it combines very well with a jeans skirt or a linen short. I've always wanted to knit a triangle top, so I looked at several tutorials and settled on the one I liked the most. Find some leftover acrylic yarn and start knitting.
The pattern is quite simple, although I had a small complication at the time of closing the tip of the triangle to make the neck of the top, but I was able to solve it quite well. In my opinion, the important thing in this pattern is to know how to combine the colors so that the result is as harmonious as possible.
In my case I used a pattern to make a bushy triangle in stockinette stitch, but you can also do it in ajour stitch if you want a triangle with looser stitches. To give the design some relief, I knitted a few rounds with a stitch that consists of sandwiching a knitted overcasting stitch on top of the overcasting stitch of the previous round and a long overcasting stitch in the overcasting stitch where the overcasting stitch of the previous round started. This type of stitch gives a little more dimension to the design and is ideal for multi-colored knits.
Finally I knitted the laces to hold the neck and back, added them to the triangle to give it the shape of a top and this way I finished my weekend project. I made this top with a lot of enthusiasm for my daughter since it has been a long time since the last time I knitted her a beach top and I could notice how much she has grown, although for me she will always be my little girl. I hope you liked this simple design. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
