Happy and blessed Friday dear fellow NeedleWorkMonday members. We are already finishing the first week of December and that means that there are only a few days left until 2023 says goodbye and we can welcome the new year.
These days are very busy for most people celebrating Christmas. There are always a lot of things to do, but especially when it comes to Christmas presents for the children and other family members.
At least in my case, I have several family members and friends who have a birthday around this time. The first of them is one of my sisters to whom I have been weaving a basket purse to give her as a birthday present.
This portfolio has given me several extra gray hairs, due to the number of inconveniences that have arisen during the elaboration process. Nevertheless, today I am happy to share with you the final result of this very special project.
In a previous post I told you about some of the issues that had arisen regarding the knitting material and the times I had to unknit and restart. Well, I decided to change the initial plan and take another path to reach the desired result. This time, I only placed cotton cord inside the fabric at the base and the final edge of the wallet. For the body of the purse, I decided to use a stitch with low stitches that gives a woven basket weave effect. I really like this stitch and after doing several tests, I found that it worked quite well with the double strand.
Saludos y bendiciones.
Making this stitch change allowed me to make much faster progress on the knitting. It took me a whole afternoon and most of the night to get it ready from the base to the last loop. The next day was dedicated to making the lining and the straps that will work as handles.
For the straps I chose this cute pattern that I saw on Pinterest and that seemed ideal for the type of purse I wanted to give to my sister.
I am very pleased to be able to share with you the final result and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who left me comments of encouragement and good wishes. Thank you all for your support.
Greetings and blessings.
