Los fines de semana, en especial el domingo por la tarde, es mi "momento crochet"; el momento que dedico para sentarme a tejer algún proyecto. Today I want to share with you my weekend project. On weekends, especially Sunday afternoon, is my "crochet moment"; the time I dedicate to sit down and knit a project. Sometimes I do it while I watch a series or listen to an audio book; it is really an excellent therapy.
The project I set out to make is a nice cosmetic holder for my daughter. She loves the whole world of makeup and skin care. That's why she asked me to knit her a case where she can carry her products more comfortably.

The material I usually use to weave cosmetic and pencil case holders is a thick nylon thread, here in Peru they call it "Colita de rata". I like this material because it has a nice sheen, is very easy to weave and can be washed without fear of losing its color. It comes in a variety of vibrant colors, however, my daughter chose this combination of cream with green because she loves nature and cacti are her favorite plants. For this yarn I always use a 3mm aluminum needle, so that the fabric stays loose.

I have to confess that I don't like to make identical projects, I always try to change something, that's why I don't see myself making garments in series because I'm sure they wouldn't look exactly the same. So to make this cosmetic holder I tried several stitches until I found this stitch that I really liked.
It is a very simple stitch that is made only with high stitches but the relief and texture it gives to the project is very nice. I always prefer this type of stitch that gives relief more than flat stitches. This stitch is ideal for knitting bags and purses because they are very dense.
Although this is not a formal tutorial, I would like to explain a little of how to knit this stitch. You simply pick up a round of double crochet and in the second round you also knit double crochet only one stitch is knit in relief by taking the strand of yarn behind the double crochet of the previous round and the next stitch is knit normally. In the following rows, the stitch that was knitted in relief is knitted normally and the stitch that was knitted normally is knitted in relief. In this way all the loops are knitted until the desired length is obtained.
The result of knitting this simple and very basic stitch is a nice and dense fabric with a little bit of relief and texture. I honestly loved it and I am planning to knit a bag with this same stitch.
