How can it be so hard to find leggings that suit my taste?
Answering my own question straight away, I have to admit, that my requirements might not be the easiest ones to be fulfilled, unfortunately. But that’s why I am here, that’s why I started to sew and design clothes, for myself and for anyone who shares similar requirements when it comes to fashion.
The moment I realized that leggings would be another garment that I will stop buying and start making myself was when I tried to buy leggings online and despite the abundance of choices on the internet, couldn’t find the right thing.
I was looking for nice fabric, patterns that are delicate and special, and something that I could agree with the ways of how and where it was produced. Eventually I gave up.
The fun patterns, I found them in the kid’s sections, where they don’t fit my size. The quality material is very hard to find, and often super expensive when you do find them. And the same issue I had with finding leggings that would be produced in Europe and/or in a fair way.
One more time I extracted the inspiration from the dilemma and learned how to sew leggings.
I have to admit, it was easier than I had expected. I found a pattern on the internet, for the leggings, and the pattern for the top, I copied from one I found in my wardrobe, that suited me for the occasion of creating a yoga outfit/two piece.
All I had left to do now was getting the fabric with the pattern and the quality I wanted.
In this case I bought some mustard yellow leopard printed fabric, from a Swiss online shop.
When I was making the two-piece, I was too busy figuring out how things work, to pay attention on taking photos of the process. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my idea and the workflow, that I forget those things. So, this time I have to disappoint you on that matter.
Instead, I took more effort on taking photos of the final result, putting the outfit in scene and taking the photos of two different people wearing it.
To finish this post, I leave you with those photos. I would love to hear what you might have to say about the outcome of the photos. Also let me know if you would be interested in a more detailed, tutorial like post about how to make leggings with matching top. And if you struggle the same as I do with the trilemma of pattern-quality-production, I am more than happy to make some more of those two-pieces and send them to wherever you might be in this world:)
Thanks for stopping by (even if I am as usual late for our #needleworkmonday ) and making me able to share this project with you! Have a lovely time and see you around next Monday or any other day:)
