Finally, I managed… I competed the trilemma, on time for our #needleworkmonday. Let me show you, how I turned three unworn trousers into a whole new outfit, consisting of trousers, top and a lingerie set of two slips and one bralette…
First let me show you what I was working with: I bought one trousers in a secondhand shop, that I liked the pattern and the look of, but it wasn’t fitting well, and I wasn’t completely happy with the overall look of it. I started the whole project fusing those trousers with some adidas leggings. I talk about that first step in my previous post. trousers trilemma part.I
There I also mentioned that I would continue the project, adding another pair of leopard-printed leggings. Those ones, I really loved, because of the pattern, but they started to have holes, so wearing them as leggings wasn’t an option anymore. Still, I kept them for the fabric, and in this thrift-flip I found them to be a perfect match into the color theme of the other two trousers.
And there I go with one classy trousers, and two pairs of leggings.
I went one step at the time, I didn’t have the whole design set at the beginning. And that’s what I enjoy most about the upcycling process, because you never really know how much fabric you’ll have left and what you’ll manage to make out of it.
So first I decided to make a high waist lingerie bottom from the adidas leggings. First because it goes with the trousers (that I already finished) that were also sitting quite high, and second because I like that swimwear/sport trousers fabric for lingerie, because you can just spontaneously jump in the water with your underwear even if you didn’t take any swimwear with you:)
From there, already having the bottom part, I knew I will do a lingerie set, and since the whole thing should become an outfit, I needed a top.
The top had to be in the leopard-printed fabric, that was for sure.
For the bralette I also used the leopard-leggings, because I had the idea to keep the elastic and just cut out some fabric from where your bum is, and it almost looks like a bralette already... Then I just cleaned the edges and added the laces by using the stripes from the adidas.
For the top I had almost no fabric left, it was very tricky and awkward, to figure out where to take enough material for a top from. I was tempted to use some additional fabric, but I resisted and sticked to the limitation I gave myself.
To have a decent top I added strips of black from the other leggings to the edges.
And because I was in the mood of using every part of offcuts, I made another bottom for the lingerie set, following the same technique as for the top.
Now I want to leave you with some impressions of the work...
…what do you think of the outcome? ..the outfit definitely works to have a coffee in it, thats for sure:))
Thank you for the attention:) see you around, cheers
