¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, hace algunas semanas mi hermana me pidió que le realizara una bata de laboratorio a para su trabajo, ella es profesora de Física, así que cuando hace trabajo práctico en los laboratorios, suele estar expuesta a diversos elementos que manchan o dañan su ropa, así que el uso de una bata es fundamental. Sin embargo, ella no quería comprar esta prenda porque, debido a su estatura, hay prendas que generalmente le quedan muy largas, y a ella no le gusta; por tal motivo, es que el día de hoy les mostrare como realice ésta prenda.

She’s a physics teacher, so when she’s doing practical work in the labs, she’s often exposed to various substances that stain or damage her clothes, so wearing a lab coat is essential. However, she didn’t want to buy one because, due to her height, lab coats are often too long for her, and she doesn’t like that. That’s why today I’m going to show you how I made this one.
- 2 m de Gabardina Roma, Doble Vía o cualquier tela apta para dicha prenda.
- Botones.
- Hilo del color de la tela.
- Tijera y alfileres.
- Máquina de coser o aguja.

Actualmente, existen muchísimos modelos de batas de laboratorio, desde el tradicional hasta algunos donde se reemplazan los botones por cierre. En este caso mi hermana quería algo bastante sencillo, pero que se ajustara bien a su cuerpo, así que decidimos un modelo en corte princesa. Como era mi primera vez haciendo esta prenda, decidí buscar tutoriales que me ayudaran, es por eso que los patrones los realicé siguiendo, al pie de la letra, el video que aquí les dejo.
Con patrones listos, me pase a cortar todas las piezas en la tela, teniendo así: 4 delanteros (2 centrales y 2 laterales), 4 espaldas (2 centrales y 2 laterales), 2 bolsillos, 2 piezas de cuello, 2 mangas, 1 rectángulo para la cinturilla de la espalda.
These days, there are loads of different styles of lab coats, ranging from the traditional ones to those where the buttons have been replaced by a zip. In this case, my sister wanted something quite simple, but that would fit her body well, so we decided on a princess-cut style. As it was my first time making this garment, I decided to look for tutorials to help me, which is why I made the patterns by following, to the letter, the video I’ve linked to here.
With the patterns ready, I moved on to cutting out all the pieces from the fabric, ending up with: 4 front panels (2 centre and 2 side), 4 back panels (2 centre and 2 side), 2 pockets, 2 collar pieces, 2 sleeves, and 1 rectangle for the back waistband.
Comencé todo el proceso haciendo el ruedo de las piezas de los bolsillos, y aparte cosí la tira que va en la parte de la espalda, al ser un rectángulo lo que hice fue enfrentar derechos de tela y pasar una costura en la parte superior, para luego dar la vuelta y pasar pespunte de asentamiento.
En la pieza central de la espalda, en una de ellas hice un pequeño ruedo a la pestañita de la abertura inferior, y luego uní con costura las estas dos piezas para formar el centro de la espalda.
I began the whole process by hemming the pocket pieces, and I also sewed the strip that goes on the back. As it was a rectangle, I placed the right sides of the fabric together and sewed a seam along the top, then turned it over and top-stitched it.
On the central back piece, I made a small hem along the edge of the bottom opening on one of them, and then I sewed these two pieces together to form the centre of the back.

Cosí a la pieza del centro de la espalda ambos laterales, y lo mismo hice con el delantero.
Take the pockets and position them on the corresponding side panels of the front, which should be marked with pins to show where these pieces will go. Sew a zigzag stitch to attach the pockets, and along the back seam. Then position the waistband.
I sewed both side panels to the centre back piece, and did the same with the front.

Uni delantero y espalda por los hombros, y posteriormente añadí las mangas. Tome las piezas del cuello y enfrentando los derechos de tela, cosí por los laterales y la parte más plana. Di la vuelta y pase una puntada de asentamiento.
I joined the front and back pieces at the shoulders, and then added the sleeves. I took the neckline pieces and, with the right sides of the fabric facing each other, sewed along the sides and the flat part. I turned it inside out and sewed a topstitch.
Pase zigzag en toda la vista y monte el cuello, el cual va desde la primera marca que indica la extensión de botones. Doblo la vista para formar un sándwich, y la misma debe llegar hasta la unión de los hombros. La costura que se realiza es solo en los extremos, dejando el centro sin coser, y luego unimos solo una de las pestañas del cuello a la pieza de la bata.
Se hacen piquetes justo hasta donde llegó la vista, y se procede a dar la vuelta. Estos piquetes permiten poder doblar 1 cm y posicionar la otra pestaña para cubrir la costura del cuello.
Sew a zigzag stitch along the entire facing and attach the collar, which starts from the first mark indicating the button spacing. Fold the facing to form a sandwich, ensuring it reaches the shoulder seam. Sew only the ends, leaving the centre unsewn, and then attach just one of the collar tabs to the robe body.
Make notches right up to where the facing ends, and then turn the garment inside out. These notches allow you to fold over 1 cm and position the other tab to cover the neckline seam.

En los hombros, cosemos la vista a mano o con máquina para dar un mejor acabado. Cerramos toda la bata por los costados, y se hacen tanto el ruedo de las mangas como el de la parte inferior de la prenda.
Se marcan dónde irán los botones, y se realizan los respectivos ojales.
On the shoulders, we sew the facing by hand or using a sewing machine to achieve a neater finish. We sew the robe closed along the sides, and finish both the sleeve hems and the bottom hem of the garment.
We mark where the buttons will go and make the corresponding buttonholes.
