¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, continuamos con la confección de mis outfits de graduación, ésta vez es el turno de éste vestido corte Francés, llegar a éste modelo en concretó fue una larga travesía pues tenía muchas ideas en mente de lo que quería hacer, si bien desde el inicio tenía la imagen de éste vestido en mi mente, Pinterest me llenó el feed de más opciones que me encantaban, sin embargo cuando me senté a analizar todos los diseño que tenía guardados me dí cuenta que algunos eran un poco problemáticos, bien sea porque no entendía el patrón o porque no iban a verse del todo bien en mi tipo de cuerpo, así que luego de una búsqueda exhaustiva de tutoriales de patrones, finalmente encontré uno que hizo que me terminara de decidir por éste diseño 💖.
Hello Hello Community! ✨, We continue with the creation of my graduation outfits. This time it's the turn of this French-cut dress. Arriving at this particular model was a long journey because I had many ideas in mind about what I wanted to do. Although I had the image of this dress in my mind from the beginning, Pinterest filled my feed with more options that I loved. However, when I sat down to analyse all the designs I had saved, I realised that some were a bit problematic, either because I didn't understand the pattern or because they weren't going to look quite right on my body type. So, after an exhaustive search for pattern tutorials, I finally found one that made me decide on this design 💖.
- 1m ½ de tela Doble Vía (o Gabardina).
- ½ m de entretela termo adhesiva.
- Botones.
- Hilo del color de la tela.
- Cinta métrica y alfileres.
- Tijeras.
- Máquina de coser.
- 1½ metres of double-weave fabric (or gabardine).
- ½ metre of heat-adhesive interfacing.
- Buttons.
- Thread in the same colour as the fabric.
- Measuring tape and pins.
- Scissors.
- Sewing machine.
Lo primero que hice antes de cualquier cosa fue ver todos los tutoriales de patrones posibles, hasta que finalmente encontré uno que estaba bien explicado y que me hizo sentir cómoda para irme a la confección. En éste caso yo quería que el vestido tuviese bastante vuelo en la parte inferior, así que una modificación que hice de la explicación del vídeo, fue añadir 10cm en la parte inferior a cada parte del patrón, es decir a los dos delanteros y a los dos traseros, excepto en la parte central delantera del vestido, allí añadí 7cm extra en todo el largo para hacer la extensión de los botones. Con patrones listos, me pasé a la tela a cortar todo, incluyendo una tira de 3 cm de ancho por todo el largo del vestido en la entretela, además de vistas para el cuello y sisas.
The first thing I did before anything else was to watch all the pattern tutorials I could find, until I finally found one that was well explained and made me feel comfortable enough to start sewing. In this case, I wanted the dress to have quite a bit of flare at the bottom, so one modification I made to the video instructions was to add 10 cm to the bottom of each part of the pattern, that is, to the two front pieces and the two back pieces, except for the centre front of the dress, where I added an extra 7 cm along the entire length to make room for the buttons. With the patterns ready, I moved on to cutting out all the fabric, including a 3 cm wide strip along the entire length of the dress in the interfacing, as well as facings for the neckline and armholes.
Con las piezas cortadas arranqué la costura uniendo todas las piezas de la parte trasera y todas las piezas de la parte delantera, haciendo sus respectivos refuerzos con costuras en zigzag, luego de ésto uni por los costados y hombros ambas piezas, y hasta éste punto les aseguro que ya está hecho el 60% del vestido 🤣. Además de ésto, cerré las vistas de las mangas y forma una sola vista para el cuello.
With the pieces cut out, I started sewing, joining all the pieces of the back and all the pieces of the front, reinforcing them with zigzag stitching. Then I joined both pieces at the sides and shoulders, and at this point, I can assure you that 60% of the dress is already done 🤣. In addition to this, I closed the sleeve facings and formed a single facing for the neckline.
Planchamos todo incluyendo las costuras hechas hasta ahora y las vistas, y aprovechamos de pegar la entretela en la extensión de botones dejando 1cm de margen en la parte superior y de lado, pues éste cm que dejamos se va a doblar y coser. Para coser la vista del cuello primero doblé la extensión de botones justo donde acaba la entretela (que hace los 3cm que se necesitan) y con alfileres coloqué la vista, ésta tenía 1cm que se va a superponer a la extensión de botones y así se cose por todo el margen.
Iron everything, including the seams made so far and the facings, and take the opportunity to glue the interfacing onto the button placket, leaving a 1 cm margin at the top and sides, as this cm will be folded over and sewn. To sew the neck facing, I first folded the button placket right where the interfacing ends (which makes the 3 cm needed) and pinned the facing in place. The facing had 1 cm that will overlap the button placket, and it is sewn along the entire margin.
En éste punto también se cosen las vistas de las sisas, y al momento de voltear se hacen pequeños piquetes en las parte curvas, y en la extensión de botones también se hace un piquete en la esquina así como si se estuviese cosiendo una pretina, luego de dar la vuelta planchamos y hacemos costura de asentamiento. En la parte inferior del vestido hice costura en zigzag, doble aproximadamente 2cm e hice el ruedo. Aquí ya queda hacer los ojales, que deben quedar centrados, y coser los botones.

After turning the garment inside out, we iron it and sew a basting stitch. At the bottom of the dress, I made a zigzag seam, folded approximately 2 cm and made the hem. Now all that remains is to make the buttonholes, which should be centred, and sew on the buttons.
