Transform leggings into a dress (ENG/ESP)

I'm excited to share my Monday project again. Even though I haven't been able to dedicate time to my sewing projects, I was eager to share them with this wonderful community.

Today I'm sharing a cute dress I made from a pair of leggings I no longer wore because they had stretched out a bit, but I didn't want to stop wearing them because the fabric is so comfortable and soft. The color is also really lovely, so I managed to design a dress and get the most use out of them. These leggings also have sentimental value, as they were a gift from my best friend, and I know she'll love what I made when she sees it.

Estoy emocionada de compartir mi proyecto del lunes de nuevo. Aunque no he podido dedicarle tiempo a mis proyectos de costura, tenía muchas ganas de compartirlos con esta maravillosa comunidad.

Hoy les comparto un vestido precioso que hice con unos leggings que ya no usaba porque se habían estirado un poco, pero no quería dejar de usarlos porque la tela es súper cómoda y suave. El color también es precioso, así que logré diseñar un vestido y sacarles el máximo provecho. Estos leggings también tienen un valor sentimental, ya que fueron un regalo de mi mejor amiga, y sé que le encantará lo que hice cuando lo vea.

When I thought about transforming leggings into a dress, I had an idea of ​​how I was going to make the top piece, but then it transformed into something else entirely. So, the blouse I had chosen as a guide wasn't necessary; everything unfolded in a surprising way. Ideas came to me as I was cutting.

The first piece I cut was the hem. Then I cut and opened the crotch, placing one piece on top of the other to visualize where I wanted to achieve with this transformation.

Cuando pensé en transformar unos leggings en un vestido, tenía una idea de cómo iba a hacer la parte superior, pero luego se transformó en algo completamente distinto. Así que la blusa que había elegido como guía no fue necesaria; todo se desarrolló de forma sorprendente. Las ideas me surgieron mientras cortaba.

La primera pieza que corté fue el bajo. Luego corté y abrí la entrepierna, superponiendo una pieza con otra para visualizar el resultado final.

Next, I cut the waistband, which I really like because it's made of a thicker stretch fabric. This waistband was double-layered, so I opened it up to make the top part of the dress. Then I folded the leg openings of the leggings to shape them and cut off the stretched-out parts.

Luego, corté la pretina, que me gusto mucho porque está hecha de una tela elástica más gruesa. Esta pretina tenía doble capa, así que la abrí para hacer la parte superior del vestido. Después, doblé las aberturas de las piernas de los leggings para darles forma y corté las partes estiradas.

I made a 15 cm cut in the bottom of the skirt piece of the dress, and used the remaining cut piece to make other pieces, such as straps and reinforcements.

Hice un corte de 15 cm, en la parte baja de la pieza de la falda del vestido, para darle largo, y usar él resto cortado, para hacer otras piezas, como tirantes y refuerzos.

I set this piece aside and began working on the bodice. I sewed the straps, which I cut from the hem pieces. Using the tip of the scissors, I turned the straps right side out and attached them to the bodice along with the reinforcement, measuring 7 cm from the side seams of the armhole to the center front. I pinned the straps and reinforcement and sewed.

Reservé esta pieza, y comencé a trabajar en la parte superior del vestido. cosí los tirantes, que corté de las piezas del dobladillo. After cutting all the pieces, I threaded the sewing machine, pinned the side seams of the skirt, and sewed two straight seams and one zigzag seam for reinforcement.

Después de cortar todas las piezas, enhebré la máquina de coser, sujeté con alfileres los laterales de la falda, y cosí dos costuras rectas y una en zigzag como refuerzo.

The next step was to place the top right sides together inside the dress skirt and sew it. Then, I added vertical rectangles to the sides of the dress to create gathers, sewed them in place, and added a ribbon trim. Finally, I finished the hem with a zigzag stitch, and the result was a beautiful and comfortable dress that fits sizes S to L.

It all depends on the leggings you use, so I'm not mentioning centimeters here, as it will all depend on the leggings and how flexible the fabric is.

Lo siguiente fue colocar el top derecho con derecho, dentro de la falda del vestido, para coser, luego coloque unos rectángulos verticales en los laterales del vestido, para hacer un fruncido, cosí y coloque una cinta de tela, por último, para finalizar, cosí el dobladillo con una costura de zig zag, y resulto un vestido precioso, y cómodo a la medida, porque se adapta desde la talla S a la L.

Todo va a depender de los leggings que usen, por eso aquí no les hablo de cm, ya que todo dependerá de los leggings que usen y que tan flexibles sea la tela.

It's amazing how beautiful these dresses turn out! I love transforming things, and I was really curious to try making a dress from leggings. I was delighted with the result and so excited to make many more dresses with other leggings I have lying around. My daughter even borrowed hers so I could make her some dresses! In fact, she's the model in the photo! 😄😄😄

Es sorprendente lo hermoso que quedan estos vestidos de verdad, como me encanta transformar, tenía mucha curiosidad de hacer un vestido de leggings, y quede encantada, muy emocionada, con ganas de hacer muchos vestidos con otros leggings que tengo sin uso, ya mi hija, saco los de ella para que le haga unos cuantos vestidos, de hecho es la modelo de la foto😄😄😄
