Hello everyone, Hive & Needle Work Monday friends. I hope you are doing well today and I wish you all a great week. I'm a day late for the needle work monday, but time passes when you're having fun. I'm still continuing on my trip through the province of San Juan in Argentina and I think that every day I am more surprised by how well everything is happening. Even though this trip was almost unplanned, along the way everything fell into place so that I could get more out of it than I thought. Luckily, I was able to meet people who valued my work and allowed me to travel more about what I wanted ❤️.
Hola a todos, amigos de Hive & Needle Work Monday. Espero que se encuentren muy bien hoy y deseo a todos una gran semana. Llego un día atrasada para el lunes de costura, pero es que el tiempo pasa cuando uno se divierte. Aún continuo en mi viaje por la provincia de San Juan en Argentina y creo que cada día me sorprendo más por lo bien que esta sucediendo todo. A pesar de que este viaje no estaba casi nada planeado, sobre la marcha todo se fue acomodando para que pueda aprovecharlo más de lo que pensaba. Por suerte, pude encontrarme con personas que valoraron mi trabajo y me permitieron viajar más de lo que quería ❤️.
A few days ago I started a sewing job for the hostel where I'm currently doing my work for accomodation exchange. It is a fairly simple job that consisted of cutting sheets from double beds and transforming them into sheets for a single bed and a pillowcase. To do this, the owner of the hostel brought me the machine and all the necessary elements, so I only had to do my sewing within the working hours agreed upon in the exchange. Making this was quite simple: just straight seams until all the hems were finished and with a new machine that works perfectly ❤️.
Hace unos días atrás empecé un , trabajo de costura para el hostel en el que estoy haciendo mi intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento actualmente. Es un trabajo bastante sencillo que consistía en cortar sábanas de camas dobles y transformarlos en sábanas para cama simple y una funda de almohada. Para hacer esto, la dueña del hostel me trajo la máquina y todos los elementos necesarios, así que yo solo tuve que hacer mis costuras dentro de las horas de trabajo pactadas en el intercambio. Hacer esto fue bastante sencillo: solo costuras rectas hasta terminar todos los dobladillos y con una máquina nueva que anda a la perfección ❤️.
What I finished the fastest were the hems of the sheets and I left the work on the pillowcases for last. I had made pillowcases before so I knew how to make them so that they were neat, but the idea was to make about twenty pillowcases so this was going to consume a lot of time. That's why every day I did a little bit of the work: cutting the fabrics, ironing the hems, sewing them, folding the lapels, ironing them, and sewing the sides. The work rate I took was three pillowcases per hour 😊.
Lo que más rápido terminé fueron los dobladillos de las sábanas y dejé para lo último el trabajo de las fundas de almohadas. Ya hice fundas antes así que sabía la manera de hacerlas para que queden prolijas, pero la idea era hacer como veinte fundas así que esto me iba a consumir bastante tiempo. Es por eso que cada día hacía un poco del trabajo: cortar las telas, planchar los dobladillos, coserlos, doblar las solapas, plancharlas y coser los costados. El ritmo de trabajo que tomé fue de tres fundas de almohada por hora 😊.
I put all my love and care into making these pillowcases because I wanted them to be beautiful. That's why I took the trouble to iron and everything so that every detail is beautiful. For these covers I used the French seam technique, which hides the edges of the fabrics inside a small hem. I also made a flap so I could wrap the pillow so that no part was left uncovered. It was very entertaining to do this work and see how I finished the pillowcases one by one ❣️.
Puse todo mi cariño y prolijidad para hacer estas fundas porque quería que quedaran hermosas. Por eso me tomé el trabajo de planchar y todo para que cada detalle quede hermoso. Para estas fundas usé la técnica de costura francesa, la cual oculta los bordes de las telas en el interior de un pequeño dobladillo. También hice una solapa para poder envolver la almohada y que no quede ninguna parte descubierta. Fue muy entretenido hacer este trabajo y ver como fui terminando una a una las fundas ❣️.
Since the idea is to start using these new sets of sheets in the hostel, as I finished them we began to put them on the beds for the guests. It was very nice to see that my finished work was useful and will surely be very durable. I liked contributing to this work and having sewn during my trip, leaving my small mark on this place ❤️. Como la idea es empezar a usar estos juegos nuevos de sábanas en el hostel, a medida que los iba terminando ya los empezamos a poner en las camas para los huéspedes. Fue muy lindo ver que mi trabajo terminado fue útil y seguramente sea muy duradero. Me gustó contribuir con este trabajo y haber cosido durante mi viaje, dejando mi pequeña huella en este lugar ❤️. ¿Qué les parece?
Although this work was not financially remunerated because our arrangement with the hostel is an exchange of work for accommodation, I received a benefit in some way. For having done this job, the owner of the hostel gave me five days off this week so I could go for a walk wherever I wanted. For a traveler, having many days off in a row is a good reward as it is enough time to broaden your horizons a little more before having to return to work again. That's why I used my 'prize' to travel 200 km to a town called Barreal in the province of San Juan, right in front of the Andes Mountains. I definitely liked this option more than the money itself, because the view from here is beautiful and this walk was not in my plans, but I'm totally happy to have discovered this place ❤️.
A pesar de que este trabajo no fue remunerado económicamente porque nuestro arreglo con el hostel es intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento, recibí un beneficio de alguna forma. Por haber hecho este trabajo, la dueña del hostel me dió cinco días libres esta semana para poder ir a pasear a donde quiera. Para un viajero, tener muchos días libres seguidos es una buena recompensa ya que es tiempo suficiente para ampliar un poco más tus horizontes antes de tener que volver de nuevo al trabajo. Es por eso que usé mi 'premio' para viajar 200 km hasta un pueblo llamado Barreal dentro la la provincia de San Juan, justo en frente de la Cordillera de los Andes. Definitivamente me gustó más esta opción que el dinero en sí, porque la vista desde acá es hermosa y este paseo no estaba en mis planes, pero estoy totalmente feliz por haber conocido este lugar ❤️.
I like to think that I started this sewing job selflessly because I really didn't expect anything else in return, but what I received surprisingly was something very good. This trip is being one of the most beautiful experiences of my life because everything fell into place to go further and further, meeting great places and people. I will always be grateful for having this great opportunity, a consequence of everything I built in this time with effort and dedication and achieved thanks to everyone who helped me get here 😊. Thanks for that ❤️.
Me gusta pensar que yo empecé este trabajo de costura desinteresadamente porque de verdad no esperaba nada más a cambio, pero lo que recibí sorpresivamente fue algo muy bueno. Este paseo esta siendo una de las experiencias más lindas de mi vida porque todo se fue acomodando para llegar más y más lejos, conociendo lugares y personas geniales. Siempre voy a estar agradecida por tener esta gran oportunidad, consecuencia de todo lo que construí en este tiempo con esfuerzo y dedicación y concretado gracias a todos los que me ayudaron a llegar hasta acá 😊.
