¡Buenas tardes, amigas de las agujas! Buen lunes, el último de este año. Que esta oportunidad nos sirva para seguir compartiendo nuestras experiencias y aprendizajes con las agujas. Espero que todas se encuentren genial. Por mi parte, he terminado este aplique y quiero mostrarles mis descubrimientos. Deseo de corazón que el resultado final les guste.
As always, this story starts with a drawing and the planning of colors and sizes. I try not to make them too big or too small. However, since I don't have my costume yet, I still don't know how much free space I will have, so I undertook this embroidery with a lot of joy... and some unfamiliarity. If you recognize the drawing, this character appears in an episode of The Simpsons. Although he is originally white, he looks translucent in the series, so I used shiny beads instead of solid white. The teeth, on the other hand, I made with opaque white beads. But before I got to the details, I started with the edges, politely, haha!

Como siempre, esta historia comienza con un dibujo y el planeamiento de colores y tamaños. Intento no hacerlos ni muy grandes ni muy pequeños. Sin embargo, como aún no tengo mi traje, sigo sin saber cuánto espacio libre tendré, así que emprendí este bordado con mucha alegría... y cierto desconocimiento. Si reconocen el dibujo, este personaje aparece en un capítulo de Los Simpsons. Aunque originalmente es de color blanco, se ve traslúcido en la serie, por lo que utilicé mostacillas brillantes en lugar de blancas sólidas. Los dientes, en cambio, los hice con mostacillas blancas opacas. Pero antes de llegar a los detalles, comencé con los bordes, educadamente, ¡jaja!
Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed when facing the edges, knowing that it will be my turn to fill the whole interior. In spite of that, this process is usually made light and fairly quick. I hope that in the photographs you can see how some of the black beads don't look right at first, but over time they settle in. I always say that this is not a work that must be perfect, but must be understood “from afar”.

A veces me siento algo abrumada al enfrentarme a los bordes, sabiendo que luego me tocará llenar todo el interior. A pesar de eso, este proceso suele hacerse ligero y bastante veloz. Espero que en las fotografías puedan observar cómo algunas mostacillas negras no quedan bien al principio, pero con el tiempo se van acomodando. Siempre digo que este no es un trabajo que deba quedar perfecto, sino que debe entenderse “desde lejos”.
Another great discovery this time was embroidering in the backyard. Some mornings I managed to do it and it was really entertaining. The tranquility of the outdoors totally changes the experience, and these summer days, although a bit strange, are ideal to enjoy the outdoors while creating.

Otro gran descubrimiento en esta oportunidad fue bordar en el patio. Algunas mañanas logré hacerlo y resultó realmente entretenido. La tranquilidad del exterior cambia totalmente la experiencia, y estos días de verano, aunque un poco extraños, son ideales para disfrutar del aire libre mientras se crea.
When I had everything to my liking, it was time to work on the background and decide on the colors. This time I didn't test: I knew I would use green or turquoise, but none of the tones convinced me at all, so I combined them. I'm thrilled with the final result. Although the border was not completely even in terms of the amount of sequins, I think it's a minor detail in front of the charm of the outfit. Now I just can't wait to get my outfit to incorporate this applique very soon.

Cuando tuve todo a mi gusto, llegó el momento de trabajar el fondo y decidir los colores. Esta vez no hice pruebas: sabía que usaría verde o turquesa, pero ninguno de los tonos me convencía del todo, así que los combiné. Estoy fascinada con el resultado final. Aunque el borde no quedó completamente parejo en cuanto a la cantidad de lentejuelas, creo que es un detalle menor frente al encanto del conjunto. Ahora solo ansío tener mi traje para incorporar este aplique muy pronto.
I must admit that embroidery has become a primary activity in my days and challenges me creatively, besides the calm and connection that there is in each stitch, it is a form of meditation when I start thinking about the creation from the small and how the detail and one by one, each sequin takes its place to be part of a larger whole. It gives another meaning to the work.

Debo reconocer que bordar se ha convertido en una actividad primordial en mis días y me desafía creativamente, además de la calma y conexión que hay en cada costura, es una forma de meditación cuando me pongo a pensar en la creación desde lo pequeño y como el detalle y de a una, cada lentejuela ocupa su lugar para formar parte de un todo más grande. Le da otro sentido a la labor.
You may remember that last year I embroidered Marge Simpson, well this time I wanted another ironic character without getting too complicated. I chose the rabbit whose dialogue is, “Drink, or I die.” I thought it was perfect and, to say the least, hilarious. Being able to add things that are humorous or that I like in my costume are a key part of being in a murga for me. While I didn't do a lot of sequin work this year, I am happy to have new appliqués for carnival. With only four weeks to go, I warn you that I will be getting intense with this theme and sewing. I hope you enjoy it too.

Quizás recuerden que el año pasado bordé a Marge Simpson, bueno esta vez quería otro personaje irónico sin complicarme demasiado. Elegí al conejo cuyo diálogo es: “Bebe, o moriré”. Me pareció perfecto y, cuanto menos, hilarante. Poder añadir cosas humorísticas o que me gustan en mi traje, son para mi una parte clave de estar en una murga. Si bien este año no hice muchos trabajos con lentejuelas, estoy feliz de tener apliques nuevos para carnaval. Faltando apenas cuatro semanas, les advierto que me pondré intensa con este tema y las costuras. Espero que también lo disfruten.
