Sewing as we know is an act, designing a dress is what we put our whole mind and heart in for it to look perfect as it should be.
Every successful designer works with the heart to achieve that great work of art!
So I do with much of the dresses I make. I was especially fond of the recent ones I had done, especially this yellow dress below:
Yes, this yellow dress was for my sister and as you see it looks really cute on her in the picture.
The dress was motivated by a beautiful event we were going to attend, the 2023 regional convention of Jehovah's witnesses.
She needed the dress for the event so I made it for her, among others.
The materials used for making this dress includes:
- Yellow lace 1.5 yards
- Yellow Net 6 yards
- Yellow Bridal satin 4 yards
- Cotton lining 3 yards
- Hard Net 3 yards
- Candle gun & gum
- Yellow thread 2
- Yellow zip
As usual what is expected for making a dress is drafting the pattern and doing the cutting, and later the sewing...
After I was done sewing all the pieces together, I was done with making the dress except for the designs in front. It was plain amd as usual I cut trimmings designs from the lace and began to attach them with my candle gum on the dress.
This part, just like sewing, requires a lot of attention, this is because we need to know the right places to place the designs so the dress looks great
And finally I was done with everything and my sister, whom I had made it for, loved it so much and she couldn't wait to wear it for the event. And when she did try it on, it looked perfect on her. See her in the image below:
Well, it's not always easy to make this kind of dress, it requires a lot of attention and patience even for those who are professionals at dressmaking. It took me about 5 hours to complete this dress.
But I'm happy I was able to achieve it in the end and I felt really excited....🤗
