The pillowcases I collect include this white on white example which is painstakingly handquilted by me mostly while listening to music. I must admit that I am most creative when I hear my fave Earl Klugh music as well as Blues of BB King and many others. Actually, I made two pillowcases with a different quilted design in its center, but I will show the 2nd pillowcase some other time.
Pre-crocheted Laces
As for this pillowcase, the crocheted laces were made beforehand without having a project in mind. I simply crocheted them for a couple of years or so and when the time came, I thought I would use them for this project.
The Quilted Front Of The Pillowcase
The cloth I used for the front of the pillowcase is cotton, the middle part which is the batting is a polyacryl and the back is cotton too. So when the three layers were put together, I basted the cloth with bigger running stitches to hold the 3 layers together. And when that was set, I used masking tape for the lines that are to be quilted... the design in the middle of the cloth came from a flower I copied from a flower magazine and transferred it thru a magic pencil which will disappear when the cloth is washed.
So, after the quilting, I made a probe on attaching the crocheted lace by means of basting it onto the quilted front cloth. I used a colored thread so I can see it easily when the time came to remove it. Then when all was set, I finally sew the lace onto the cloth with the sewing machine.
I used a plain white cotton for the back of the pillowcase and the closure is made with just one button and a button hole sewn in the middle of the overlapping back cloth.
behind were made by me.
