Hello Hiveians and needleworkers.
Remembering the processes of how I made this top makes me laugh and smile.
It was like a journey of nowhere, each needlework Monday post is something I look forward to and often want to make a big entry into it, but out of my skill trying to explore different designs I either end up making mistakes or creating something new.
Here is what I have for today
The idea was to make a full flair fitted off shoulder dress with my measurements but it turned out to fit more perfectly on my sister because of my inaccuracies with analyzing the perfect measurement for my size.
I stated making this outfit using experimental paper and fabrics here from left over pieces of fabrics
I measured out a neckline of 1inches, shoulder and armhole along the sphere of a flair cut above.
This is what can be done to get a full flair top or dress...
This I then placed in fabrics and all went well.
After I got enough confidence and courage from this experiment, I believed I will do great with my main fabrics.
This time around I want to eliminate the shoulder and make it an off shoulder full flair.
This was the manipulation I did to the fabric.
I measured out a 4 inches depth neckline and connected to the armhole of 6inches depth and 2inchws width
This was cut along a circle flair and straps of 2inches, cut sewn and turn to the wrong side was fixed to the tip of the cloth.
The top was ready.
The top was ready but at the point of trying it on am sure you can imagine what happened, the armhole was quite large, that this ought to have been reduced to at least 3inches depth for an off shoulder top. That realization hit me so hard when i couldn't contain the armhole.
Maybe the little fever i feel in my body caused this, I was looking for what to blame.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Luck ran on my sister who is quite bustier than I am it fitted well on her and I had to pass the top to her.
The armhole was okay and the fabric wasn't a total ruin after all, but for a design I love, I will have to do same foe myself on another fabric am able to get my hands on.
Its a good thing that I learnt, how to manipulate and remove the shoulders alongside cutting and sewing a full flair off shoulder top.
