The holidays are here, and everyone is expected to get some rest. Parents, teachers, and students will all be at home. Sometimes it is usually a homecoming for students who have traveled far to other places for studies.
Teachers are required to get some maximal rest for at least a month from the stress and labor put in to teach their pupils. My new-found friend and beauty have been looking forward to this holiday. She has told me all about how she has planned to travel to places, and we have planned this journey all along.
Two weeks ago, she brought me some fabrics to make two dresses for her. She will need them for her journey, imagining how she will need some lovely outfits to grant entry into some new states within the country. We were all happy, and I wished that I could travel along with her to unwind too.
Actually, we need these breaks, and mostly when it comes to visiting new states, I am often excited too because you get to see new places and taste delicacies for someone who is a foodie, and my taste buds love to explore a whole lot. We were all excited already before these eventualities happened to kill our joy.
Her dad broke down the very day we had planned that she would travel. It happened all of a sudden, like a joke, and our moods were all changed. He was later admitted to the hospital, and instead of enjoying her holidays in some states, we are all concerned about Daddy's health. He has been a good man and played with me the many times I have visited the family.
While I had already started to make her outfits here with all joy, I was equally saddened by the news and abandoned the outfits halfway.
She got this fabric, and though it was lovely, it did give me a headache.
I have heard a fellow seamstress lament about how some fabrics try out our patience, and I can totally relate to that. Tulle, silk, and some other fabric wouldn't stay put whenever we worked with them. I managed to get her measurements on the fabric.
Cut out the front block of her outside, making a princely bustier cut. Using old pieces of clothing in place of pattern paper.
It's been a while since I made bustiers since most of the outfits I make now are simple dresses.
After adding some stay to get the clothes stiff and cutting the lining in a similar manner, the next was stitching up the pieces.
All the time I was sewing the dress, I was thinking about my friend and wishing that she was here with me. Often times, she comes around to visit with me while I make clothes, and we gist away the times happily. I really don't know how she will be feeling right now after staying with dad in the hospital instead of enjoying some time away. Hopefully, before the day runs out, I will be with her to check on how the family is fairing.
Her dress came out so lovely, and that made me forget the stress of the fabrics. I have cut out the sleeve and every other part, but I wasn't feeling too excited to finish this up, not knowing how Dorky baby is fairing. I hope that things get better and Daddy gets back home to us soon.
