Hello Hive
A pleasant afternoon to my beloved creative community. I hope that we are all well and enjoying good weather. It has been raining more frequently these days that I have no cause to worry about the heat anymore since the weather has become a little cooler since the onset of the rains.
Today I decided to complete the design of my dress. These days I always wish to go out in outfits designed by myself so that whenever people see me outside, they can see my creative skills and patronize my fashion business.
I made this dress a few days back after admiring how much A-line outfits look beautiful on others. Having made one for myself as a Sallah dress, it came out more bogus than I would have wanted due to the type of fabric I used. I have long abandoned the dress and having worn it. Rather than leave it idle in my long line of WIP projects, I decided to see the making of the dress to the end today so that I can wear it for an occasion coming up this weekend.
There is a lot of competition going on in the fashion industries as we continuously have more jobless graduates who have no choice but to learn a skill. Hardly will you pass by any street without seeing a seamstress. In this regard, you have to be very competitive in order to stand a chance. With every giving opportunity, I will like to show people my skills and what I can offer.
Creativity is an act of thinking outside the box. Turning ordinary things into extraordinary ones.
Today I transformed a simple A-line design into something unique with a decorative kind of waistline technique. Since I desired that this dress be a unique one, I got a piece of fabric and cut it into a rectangular form and turned it over with a lining.
I have seen these waistline loops on many wedding dresses and had thought to borrow the idea. Little did I know that you have to learn the skills of everything.
These are some of the basic things in fashion that you must learn to make unique clothing. I had not known how to fix this before now and was puzzled when I started.
How to fix the waistline loops.
- Purchase your eyelets.
- Create notches at intervals on your outfit where you want to fix the eyelet.

Use the eyelet machine to close them into the cloth.
I got my eyelets and the loop machine. With little to no success at first, everything was rough from the first eyelet I fixed, although it got better as I practiced more.
The very rough first attempt... I regretted not trying it on a piece of paper first before transferring it to my clothes.
I continued trying, and it got better. I was then able to achieve some success fixing the eyelets.
This was then stitched to the dress, and look at how unique my dress became. I sooooo 😘 this.
The idea is that whenever you sew an A-line dress and you desire some fitness by the waistline, this is just a simple process you can follow to achieve that.
The decorative front loops often sit beautifully on any dress. This can be sewn to be something reversible.
Either you tie the rope in front of your dress or you tie it at the back of your dress.
What do you think about the dress?
