Hello Hive
A pleasant afternoon to us all, I hope that our day has been productive so far.
My niece got a new dress from me yesterday after church service. This is part of what we spent our Afternoon doing. She came visiting and when I saw her I wasn't happy with what she was wearing. My niece was wearing one of her elder sister clothes which was passed down to her as she has outgrown the outfit but the dress was already torn in different locations
I wasn't too pleased that her mummy didn't bother to help her stitch the torn parts of the dress. I took off the old dress and stitched up the torn parts for her and then decided to sew her a new dress since this is something I love to do.
My baby girl is usually one of the happiest person you can find. Whenever children are genuinely happy it isn't difficult to see. She loves new clothes and whenever I want to make her happy I simply sew her a new dress.
I remember sewing her Christmas dress last year December she loved the dress so much and wouldn't stop dancing around in it.
.
I got this Left over African print fabric here using her measurements I drew out the front and back bodice off shoulder measurements here.
Next I cut that off and equally cut some lining in the same manner
And then started to stitch the dress.
After turning the necklines of the dress in next I cut out a lower basic bodice using flair design and then i joined the lower bodice to the upper one and then got some tulle net to the off shoulder pattern here.
After stitching that up she couldn't wait to try out her dress which I asked her to do even before fixing the zipper. We had fun playing around the house and I'm glad that they came visiting and eased some of my stress.
I noticed that she wasn't comfortable wearing an off shoulder as it keeps falling off her chest line then I took off the dress and decided to add some strap to it.
I got some piece of the fabric to sew some strap for her. I equally decided to add the tulle net to the strap since it was the only accessories I had at home that can embellish and add some light to the dress
It's not nice to sew children outfits plain, hence it's good for us to try and add some accessories like a bow or any creative item.
This was how I sewed a new dress for my niece yesterday.
Children outgrow their clothes quickly been able to sew has enable me to replace the children's clothes each time they outgrowth anyone.
