The measure of joy and fulfillment I feel each time I give out a helping hand to others is unquantifiable. "We rise by lifting others" such are some of the powerful quotes I have learnt whole growing up.
Regardless of the fact that we are in the fashion business together I do not see this as an avenue for competition rather we have got to watch each other's back and help our friends, neighbors and humans needing a helping hand.
Remember this dress I have sewn for my friend over a week ago when she told me that she needed a dress for their carol night
She wouldn't let me pick a style for her and instead she insisted that I sew the design above for her. She also told me that she got the fabric from the market.
Yesterday I happened to stumble upon thesame fabric in my neighborhood stores and couldn't imagine that the world is actually such a small place.
Thesame fabrics are sold all around the world. The difference lies in the design we chose to sew whatever we make with the fabrics we purchase.
If I travel to some distance place from here and visit their market, it is possible that I will meet with thesame type of fabrics common to the people here.
Fabrics maybe thesame but the difference in style/design we create makes a fabric beautiful or less attractive. Be mindful of whatever you sew with different fabrics as we need our creative best to bring out the best look for every sewn fabric.
I got talking with the my neighborhood tailor who also sells fabrics and told her about how someone came to sew thesame fabric with me, showing her the design I made for my friend.
It was then that she told me about the poor quality of her business and how she wasn't getting customers.
Having gone through fashion school and the university I have learnt a lot about entrepreneurship, how to set up business and even attract customers.
I was moved to give her some tutorial and tips about how to promote her business. A practical example was for her to make outfits and keep them on display for people to see her skills and what she is capable of doing.
To practicalize this I told her to bring a fabric from the one she sells so that we can make a dress and display it. And she my friend fabrics is a colorful and appealing one we picked that to work with it.
Asking for my suggestion on what to sew with it I told her to make a sexy dress since this location has a greater percentage of youths and young girls.
We decided on a wrap dress with a slit at the front thighs, slits makes dress hot and sexy
Here I have helped her to cut a overlap using a pattern I have drafted.
And then a straight sleeve of 23" which will be having an elastic at the hem
Leaving her to do the sewing since I was busy with another engagement I meet it that she has done a nice stitching.
We wore the dress on her armless mannequin and displayed it outside at the front of her store
Along with the other flowery fabrics which we can suggest to customers who will wish to sew similar dress or something else with these lovely fabrics.
I also gave her some few tips about retaining customer and how best to display her products.
I will add to the comment section as soon as this gets sold out and what price we are able to sell them.
I can wait to see her store blossom and grow financially, it's my pleasure to bless a new person everyday.
Thanks for stopping by.
