Hello Hive
It's a bright and sunny Friday and the children have finally gotten holiday for this session, hopefully I can get Anastasia to continue with her sewing journey. It is a good thing to engage the children in their tender age with learning one skill or the other. She has told me a number of times that she wants to learn Catering and baking but so far the fees for learning skills now is quite on the high side, hopefully before she completes high school I will get her enrolled
By the way I am currently making this off shoulder dress for my elder sister. It is the uniform they were giving for the mothers day celebration. Yearly we mark this occasions to celebrate our mothers and appreciate them for raising godly kids in church. I ought to have made this outfit for her some two weeks ago for the celebration but I was not able to do this due to timing and lack of power supply
Often times when there is power supply I am motivated to sew clothes as this makes sewing faster and easier but we have been having some even greater challenge with power supply now that it's been more than 2weeks of complete power outage
Today I decided to sew an off shoulder dress for her with the fabrics
I stated with cutting the front and back block.
I really don't know how to make very fitted off shoulder but I just want to keep trying different methods and learning from youtube until I get perfect.
Next I cut off the offshoulfer measurements and started to stitch each piece on the sewing machine
For the lower part of the dress, I cut out a straight pencil skirt pattern slashing the front block at some 4" away from the mid center of the outfit.
Having cut the lining in a similar way I continued to stitch each piece together and on the slited part I pleated in some 3" cut out of the fabric.
Having sewn all these I want my sister to try out the fitting of the dress before I can continue with further work on it.
Here is the front and back and back bodice together after joining each piece
It is always very difficult start riping out seams after completing a dress and it doesn't come out with good fitting. And since this is my first time of sewing an off shoulder dress for her, she has to try it on first.
What stood out for me is the beautiful front slit and pleates on it, it's a beautiful design that will come out well on the dress if this gets to fit her well.
