Hello Hive
Happy new week to everyone especially my needlework family. I miss a lot of people in this community as not many people are active as before. Alot is happening and keeping people so busy to stay active with their blogs. We all need a worthy and reliable source of income but in order to make that happen a lot of people work multiple jobs and this leaves them no room for fun or anything creative.
I wish that I can get a job myself too but the only available offer around is to become a teacher which I find it difficult to impact knowledge. Job opportunities are really scare and I wonder how people pass by these times in a daily basis.
While we wait for better days ahead I keep myself busy rather than idle and today I have recycled an outfit that will otherwise be thrown away.
The fabric is a black dress which the design of the dress is outdated. I looked around and realized that I'm in love with a trending assymetric dress design style and decided to recreate my own beautiful way.
After ripping out the seamline, I places a measurements for size 6 with seam allowances here
After cutting both the front and back piece took out this fabrics I had used to sew a maternity dress for my sister and decided to use it for the lower part of the dress.
After that I cut out the neckline making it more wider than it been deeper because the dress since it wikkh not be having a zipper it's better to have wider neck so that the head can pass through easily and with a wider neck you don't need it going that deeper again, it is one important law in fashion designing.
Next I got bias strip and turned the necklines with stitching the dress.
Next was the sleeves. I had used the straight sleeve of the former dress and cut out a straight sleeve first before adding a shorter
Next is the pleating parts where I had pleated the pattern fabrics on the plain bavl fabric
Having stitched everything together, ironing was the last step.
The plain black fabric would have been thrown away in the trash but recycling and complementing it with a pattern fabric made it come alive.
The pattern fabric was remaining small and wouldn't have made an entire dress hence it is a bright idea to mix it with the black evven though the black is old already.
This is unique and Beautiful, what do you think?
